Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

MASTERCHEF: Oh, the teams having to fight amongst themselves for the parts of the chicken was an interesting twist…while there’s an inherent selfish nature to these competitions, a winning dish means the whole team is safe. So right now, you kind of have to play nice with your group.

A bummer two people were eliminated. It feels a little unfair to blame anyone but Sarah for her dish not turning out right. Yeah, a competitor picked that region to have ten fewer minutes to cook, but you have to work around the obstacle. And how bad was Purvi’s dish that they did a double elimination?

BIG BROTHER: Every season I forget how long those premiere episodes feel. But my goodness, the endurance test was a bad production decision. Maybe it was a difficult challenge? But as it was, it looked like they were just chilling on the ground, doing nothing. You couldn’t see them being pulled/tested…it looked like a teeny tiny nap.

Also, the sequence with the BB vets “breaking” the house? Yikes. So cheesy. Sigh.

Hopefully the season will be better than this premiere.

GORDON RAMSAY’S FOOD STARS: Look, I thought the girls had the possibility of absolutely melting down based on the, uh, personality clashes…I did not see the boys breaking down as thoroughly as they did. Top to bottom it was a catastrophe, between the production being a mess, putting an electric device on the stove (WTF), and Tony losing his earpiece.

I assume the plan was for this to always be a double elimination, because Tony shouldn’t have been the sole person leaving if that was ever the option. Honestly, I get why Aaron was eliminated; Tony and Chris could have been more of a toss-up, but I wonder how much the earpiece played into it. Yeah, Gordon cited Tony being a chef and the smoothie, but if Chris was the one who normally makes/drinks those…it feels a little unfair? Like, you can be the best chef in the world and still hate the taste of a healthy smoothie.
