Jamie Bamber to Guest on DOLLHOUSE

July 27, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Battlestar Galactica

Another former BSGer will be guesting on DOLLHOUSE this season. The rumors about Jamie Bamber’s appearance started during Comic Con weekend but they were confirmed today. He will be guesting on DOLLHOUSE’s second season, and we might see him as early as the premiere episode. He’s going to resume shooting with the show this week.

Here’s to hoping he shares at least one scene with Tahmoh Penikett, who played Karl ‘Helo’ Agathon to Bamber’s Lee ‘Apollo’ Adama during their BATTLESTAR GALACTICA days.

The Comic Coneth keep cometh. Check out Michael Emerson (Ben) as he auditions for the role of Hurley. I don’t know about you, but I kind of love seeing Michael Emerson be so goofy and un-Ben-like.

Watch the CHUCK Panel at Comic Con

Filed under #1 featured, Chuck, Comic Con

Woo to the Hoo! NBC.com has just published the full CHUCK panel from Comic Con. As soon as it’s embeddable I’ll be sure to  post it right here on GMMR.

What isn’t included in the NBC video (due to copyright issues) is the killer Jeffster opening.  But don’t fret you can see that by clicking here: Jeffster Rocks Out at CHUCK’s Comic Con Panel

I haven’t yet been able to watch the whole panel but you can bet that I’ll be watching it over and over again (let’s face it, this is probably the only time I’m ever going to get a personal shout out…from Josh Schwartz…during Comic Con.)

If nothing else, I hope you feel the love from the cast and creative team of CHUCK. I can tell you that they are truly thankful for what the fans did to save the show.  But it’s not over.  Stay tuned to GMMR for more ways you can help CHUCK become the ratings hit we all know it should be.

UPDATE: Check out the exclusive video that the creative team behind CHUCK put together exclusively for Comic Con.
…and one more time because I’m an asshat.

Project SUPERNATURAL Update – Season 2, Half Way Point

Slow and steady wins the race, right?  Perhaps not when the 5th season premiere of SUPERNATURAL is getting closer by the day. That’s good news for all your SUPERNATURAL fans, but not so much for those of us who are trying to play a little catch up.

I’m still going though. I’m trying.  And since today I hit the mid-way point of Season 2, I thought I’d share a quick update of where I am. For those of you who follow me on Twitter and/or listen to The TV Talk Podcast, you’ve been getting some Project SUPERNATURAL updates from time-to-time. I’ll continue to Twitter for quick one-off thoughts while I’m watching, and the podcast will be the place I can go a little more in-depth about what I’ve been watching.  But here’s a run down of the most recent P.S. episodes.

  • “In My Time of Dying” – The great thing about watching seasons back-to-back is that I only have to wait as long as it takes the DVD player to load to find out what happened after the cliffhangery season finales.  This first episode back was a doozy. Dead Dean. Dead John. The Reaper. THE Demon. This episode was a real turning point as things got a lot darker for Dean after Daddy whispered those words. TO be honest, I thought John whispered to Dean that he was going to die so Dean could live.  I thought that was what had been haunting Dean.  Not so much…the news about Sammy? Well that was just cruel, John Winchester.
  • “Everybody Loves A Clown” – For the record, everybody does NOT love a clown. Not sure how I made it through this episode.  But I will tell you that I didn’t enjoy it…not one scary bit.
  • “Bloodlust” – I remember that I watched this particular episode on a Sunday.  Earlier in the day I watched Buffy’s “Once More with Feeling” (just for the fun of it).  In the afternoon I watched “Twilight” (because that’s what I do…I watch “Twilight”. That night I turned on HBO and watched a new episode of TRUE BLOOD and then I sat down to watch SUPERNATURAL and this is the first episode I watched.  I was vampired out to say that least. But had to laugh at the irony of yet another story in which the vampires were good and never went after humans.  Clearly I was sensing a theme.  Also fun to see Amber Benson from BUFFY playing a vamp. Not my favorite, but seeing how this episode introduced Gordon Walker and was clearly a set up for an important ep later in the season, I can appreciate it more now.
  • “Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things” – Dead chick out for revenge. I didn’t hate it, but it it felt like a filler episode for me.  It did serve as an episode where more of Dean’s dark behavior surfaced. This seemed like one of the first episode where he let his dark side rule his decision making. He started getting scary. And is it wrong that I kind of liked it?

BIG BROTHER Nomination Ceremony & Spoilers from Inside the House

July 27, 2009 by
Filed under Big Brother, Big Brother Spoilers

I know I don’t usually talk about BIG BROTHER mid-week, but now that everyone knows that Jessie put Michelle and Jordan up for eviction, I had to get your take on what’s going on in the house.  I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil, but I can say this…Jessie is not the best player in this game – Natalie is.  She has manipulated Jessie at every turn. He does what she wants him to do. They are a perfect pair. She runs around the house gathering intel; he wins the competition and stays in a power position. As a pair they are strong.

What you didn’t see….

Can’t say much about the eviction stuff until after the POV ceremony so I’ll hold off on that for now. But what we can talk about is Jessie and his women. Jessie is into Natalie. Natalie flirts back just enough to keep him interested. She’s always reminding him about the boyfriend at home, but I think that’s in part to keep Jessie chasing after her. He does like a challenge. Lydia is into Jessie. If you watched CBS it seems that Jessie isn’t that into Lydia…but the live feeds tell a different story. Well, that’s not true. I don’t think Jessie is really into Lydia at all, except at night or when they are alone together in the HOH.  Then she becomes quite “handy” to him. Natalie is a big target for Lydia because with Natalie gone she thinks she’ll have Jessie all to herself. Silly girl. Clearly Lydia played this game to find a man and not to win the $500k.

Ok, that’s all for now. Just had to check in.

I know who won the POV. I’m pretty sure I know where the votes are going to go this week.  Should be interesting to see what CBS decides to air.  More on Thursday after the eviction.

TRUE BLOOD: Hard-Hearted Hannah

July 27, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, True Blood, TV News

Did you get your vamp on last night? I hope so because if you missed Sunday’s TRUE BLOOD you missed one hell of an episode.

I’ve been griping the past few weeks that not much was happening.  The ambiguity around Maryann’s storyline was starting to detract from my overall enjoyment of the show.  And while I’m still not there on that particular storyline, there was enough forward progress tonight that I’m willing to be a bit more patient and see how it plays out. Besides, there were so many other fantastic bits to tonight’s episode that I can forgive yet another orgy.  (There’s a sentence I never thought I’d write).

Force is defined as violence, compulsion, or constraint exerted upon or against a person or thing. And as defined, some of our Bon Temps friends found themselves forced into situations that just aren’t right.

Poor Lafayette. That guy has been to hell and back over the past few weeks.  He’s tried to return to normal life but the damage has been done.  He’s scarred. And it seems no matter how hard he tries he just can’t escape the vampires that kept him hostage.

Being chained up and with death hanging over your head 24/7 has got to leave a mark.  Lafayette seems to be suffering from a little bit of post traumatic stress disorder.  When Andy Bellefleur comes at him screaming and accusing him of being involved in the murder of Miss Jeanette, the man cowered in the corner.  All he saw was Eric’s face.

I don’t know about you, but I found it disturbing not only to see Eric’s face associated with Andy’s voice, but also to see Eric in that awful shirt and tie.

Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Sunday, July 26, 2009

Between tonight’s big TV lineup and all the Comic Con panels I just posted (with more to come), there’s really no reason to leave your couch all day. Sit put and enjoy.

Tonight there is plenty to watch…especially if you have HBO, because that’s where most of the fun is tonight. But there’s also, a DOCTOR WHO special on tonight that I know many of you will want to check out.  I’ll be heading across the pond to give BEING HUMAN a shot tonight.  And I’m kind of intrigued by DROP DEAD DIVA. Did anyone watch is last week?

Here’s a few shows for you to choose from. Drop me a comment and let me know what YOU will be watching!

Doctor Who | 8pm on BBC America
“Planet of the Dead”
A burglar (Michelle Ryan) encounters the Doctor on a bus that takes an abrupt detour to a desert world inhabited by hostile life-forms. Malcolm: Lee Evans.

Big Brother 11 | 8pm on CBS
On tonight’s show, Jessie, the current Head of Household, nominates two of his fellow houseguests for eviction. [GMMR: Tonight is a perfect reason why I can really only talk about the show on Thursday nights.  I already know who was nominated and who has won this week’s POV. BIG BROTHER After Dark is a blessing and a curse. (Ok, not much of a blessing I guess, but it is helpful)]

Merlin | 8pm on NBC
“The Beginning of the End”
Merlin is forced to choose between saving a young Druid’s life and protecting Arthur. [GMMR: What? This show is still on? Are you kidding me? I haven’t heard one peep about it all summer long.  NBC, you know you only have yourself to blame.]

True Blood | 9pm on HBO
“Hard-Hearted Hannah”
Sookie embarks on a dangerous mission to locate Godric; Bill is shocked when a vampire from his past resurfaces in Dallas; Jason must make difficult emotional and physical choices.

Drop Dead Diva | 9pm on Lifetime
“Do Over”
Jane has a difficult time controlling her emotions and is thrown in jail for contempt of court; Kim and Grayson sue a shrink. [GMMR: Did anyone watch this last week? I’m kind of intrigued. Is it any good?]

Being Human | 9:30pm on BBC America
“Pilot” – Encore Presentation
Sci-fi series about three seemingly ordinary twentysomethings who live secret double lives as a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost. [GMMR:This is an encore presentation of the series that premiered last night. I don’t watch a lot of BBC American despite the quaility programming on the channel. I’m going to give this one a shot. New episodes premiere on Saturday nights, and I don’t watch a lot of TV on Saturdays so why not?!]

Hung | 10pm on HBO
“The Pickle Jar”
The students choose Coach Ray as the recipient of their fall fundraising efforts; Tanya has some promising leads that could jump-start Ray’s career.

Entourage | 10:30pm on HBO
“One Car, Two Car, Red Car, Blue Car”
Turtle contemplates his future career path and seeks out Ari for advice; Eric is nervous about Charlie’s pilot.

In Plain Sight | 10pm on USA
“Let’s Get it Ahn”
A world-class counterfeiter witness is suspected in a murder; Mary and Marshall realize they may be hiding a witness from the government.

Army Wives | 10pm on Lifetime
“Post & Prejudice”
Joan and Evan compete against each other in Fort Marshall’s war games; Haneen’s surgery is a success; Frank and Denise continue to work on their relationship.

Told ya there was a lot to choose from. Help a sista out…let me know what YOU are going to be watching. (I know I ask everyday, but finding out what y’all are watching helps me get a better sense of what we should be covering here on GMMR)
