GOTHAM signs off with a jump to the future in its Thursday, April 25 series finale, and the brand new trailer shows a bit more of what’s in store.

With Bruce (David Mazouz) MIA, the villains think they have control…but then “a man dressed like a bat” starts showing up and causing trouble. The trailer also show the first real look at the Selina recast (now played by Lili Simmons) and fitting homage to the show’s early years.

GOTHAM: Ben McKenzie on Directing (Again)

After more than 15 years working in television, Ben McKenzie made his directorial debut with a 2017 GOTHAM episode. (The May 1 hour, “These Delicate and Dark Obsessions.”)

Now, McKenzie—who also stars on the series as Captain Jim Gordon—steps behind the camera again with Thursday’s deliciously twisted installment, “One Of My Three Soups.” In the episode, notable inmates from Arkham Asylum—including Jerome (Cameron Monaghan) and Tetch/the Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel)—break free and cause deadly mayhem in Gotham.

The first time McKenzie directed, “I was worried about screwing it up,” he told reporters. “I was very conservative. My goal was to be able to do it again. And look, if you’re the lead of the show and you’re directing, they tend to give you a lot of rope there. They’re probably going to bring you back—but you didn’t want to mess it up.”

Comments Off on GOTHAM: Cameron Monaghan on Jerome’s Latest Violent Act

GOTHAM’s Jerome committed arguably his most dangerous act (so far) in the last episode of the Fox drama, as he took down the Gotham PD. (Not to mention killing Captain Essen.)

“I think he’s a guy who’s living in the moment, in the most disturbing way possible,” Cameron Monaghan (Jerome) noted to reporters. “He just genuinely finds amusement in every act of destruction that he has.”

Check out what else Monaghan had to say in the video below…

GOTHAM is back for its second season on Monday, September 21st, and — as the marketing has been touting — it’s all about the villains.

With Fish gone, a whole new crop of villains are here to play. Jerome (who made quite an impact in his season 1 hours) is a player in a big way, and he’s joined by freshly turned bad girl, Barbara, as well as newbies Tabitha and Theo Galavan.

I had the chance to watch the first two episodes of GOTHAM’s second season, and have a few teases to tide you over until the show’s premiere…

GOTHAM’s Oswald Cobblepot has scored his biggest victory to date at the end of season 1: his mentor-turned-enemy Fish is (seemingly) dead.

And with Fish gone, “he’s running things” in Gotham, Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald/Penguin) told reporters in the video below. “He set out to accomplish that in the first season, got it. He’s the king of Gotham, king of the underworld at the moment…we’ll see how long he holds on to it.”

Since there are new villains heading to GOTHAM in season 2, the struggle for power will likely get a bit more complicated than Oswald anticipated.

Check out the video for more from Taylor, including the characters he hopes to interact with in season 2, why the “honeymoon is over” with Jim, and more…

GOTHAM: Ben McKenzie on the Threat of Barbara

GOTHAM season 2 will pit Jim Gordon up against, arguably, his most dangerous foe: his ex-fiancée, Barbara.

Earlier in the series, it seemed like Jim and Barbara were set to follow their comics counterparts: marriage, and perhaps a child. (And likely a divorce.) But with Barbara snapping after her encounter with the Ogre at the end of season 1 — and her subsequent murder of her parents, plus attack on Jim’s new girlfriend, Leslie — the show has firmly deviated from the comics.

“He will deal with her gingerly, with great care,” GOTHAM star Ben McKenzie (Jim) told reporters at Comic-Con. “She’s the closest person [to him] that has gone full-on bad guy…and that doesn’t go away; she doesn’t get less crazy as we go into season 2….[and] when she is that personally invested in destroying him, specifically, and knows him better than anyone, what is she willing to do to get what she wants? Having a psycho ex-girlfriend is scary.”

GOTHAM has landed a new villain: James Frain (who recurs on ORPHAN BLACK and appears in TRUE DETECTIVE season 2) has joined the Fox drama’s sophomore season as Theo Galavan — the brother of villainess-to-be, Tabitha/Tigress — a rep for the show has confirmed.

According to Deadline — who was first to report the casting — Theo is “the savior the city has been waiting for — he is sexy, heroic, and lovingly devoted to his sister Tabitha.” But, naturally, things aren’t exactly as they seem: “behind Galavan’s altruism is a centuries-old vendetta. Galavan and Tabitha (aka Tigress) will take chaos and violence to a new level in order to bleed Gotham. Their plan will lead to the creation of new villains… and the destruction of others.”

GOTHAM’s first season is coming to an end tonight, and with a war raging on, causalities are going to build up.

“Not everyone is going to survive the finale,” GOTHAM executive producer John Stephens teased in the video interview below. “Especially for people versed in the Batman canon: not everyone you think is going to survive — because of what things they do later — is actually going to survive. Which I think is super exciting.”

Elsewhere in the final hour, Fish makes a new friend, Jim has drama in his work and personal life, and Bruce makes a key discovery.

GOTHAM stars Ben McKenzie (Jim), Jada Pinkett Smith (Fish), Robin Lord Taylor (Penguin), David Mazouz (Bruce), Camren Bicondova (Selina), and Cory Michael Smith (Nygma), as well as executive producers Bruno Heller, Danny Cannon, and Stephens, previewed what’s in store in the show’s final season 1 hour… Read more

GOTHAM scored an early renewal over the weekend at Fox’s winter TCA session, and while the freshman hit was never really in danger, the show’s stars were delighted to get the official word they’d be returning for a second season.

Comments Off on GOTHAM Exclusive First Look Photos: Meet David Zayas’ Maroni!

The GOTHAM roster of villains is bulking up.

In the third episode of the new Fox hit, “The Balloonman,” viewers will meet Sal Maroni (played by former DEXTER star David Zayas), a dangerous gangster who is vying for power with Falcone. And Maroni has an interesting history in the Batman universe as well: traditionally, he’s one of the Batman’s first enemies…and was responsible for disfiguring Harvey Dent (AKA Two-Face).
