Lost, Grey’s, & Veronica Mars Rock…Tell Us Something We Don’t Know

December 12, 2005 by

The American Film Institute (AFI) announced the official selections of AFI Awards 2005, AFI’s almanac which records the year’s most outstanding achievement in film and television. And man, did they get this list right. The shows honored include fans favorites (and my personal faves) Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, and Veronica Mars among others.

The AFI Awards are unique in that that employ a 13-person jury process in which scholars, artists, critics and AFI trustees discuss, debate and determine the most outstanding achievements of the year, as well as provide a detailed rationale for each selection.

I’m especially happy that Veronica Mars was recognized. Because VM lives over at UPN, the show is often overlooked when it comes to major recognition. Love that the critics are finally being loud with their praise of this show. Congrats to all 10 shows honored: 24, Battlestar Galactica, Deadwood, Grey’s Anatomy, House, Lost, Rescue Me, Sleeper Cell, Sometimes in April, & Veronica Mars.

But I have to ask, can someone please tell me what Sleeper Cell and Sometimes in April are? I haven’t heard of either of them.

I’m pretty sure Sleeper Cell is something Showtime did . . .
