As LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME’s first season comes to a close on Thursday, June 3, the task force finds themselves dealing with an uncomfortable situation: On one hand, they’ve finally captured Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott), and he’s on the path to being held responsible for his crimes. On the other, with Bell’s (Danielle Moné Truitt) family suing the NYPD—after officers brutalized her nephew—the task force was abandoned by their fellow officers when it came time to take Wheatley down.

And, unfortunately, the lingering lawsuit not something Bell’s colleagues—outside of her team—are quick to overlook.

“As we saw in episode 7, a whole crew of people decided they weren’t…going to show up,” Truitt points out in the video below. ” So I think in the finale, it literally is going to be the Stabler-Bell show—it almost seems like [they’re] taking on the world, just us two and our task force, of course.”

While that is certainly a dangerous mission (since the Wheatley family has already taken down an undercover officer and an informant), the isolation also showcases how far the still-new team has come.

“What it’s going to do is help viewers see just how professional, and ready for this, our task force is,” Truitt previews. “And especially Stabler and I, because we’re going to be put in a predicament in the finale, where it’s going to be like, ‘Oh man, how do you get through that?’ Or, ‘How do you make the right choice in this situation?'”

“When people leave you, when people abandon you in your time of need, it really brings out the strength in you, the resilience in you,” she continues. “And I think you’ll be able to see that in Bell in the finale.”
