Veronica Mars Bus Crash – The Give Me My Remote Theory (SPOILERS)

April 7, 2006 by

The following posts contains speculation and spoilers for Veronica Mars…you’ve been warned.

This past week’s episode of Veronica Mars really got me thinking about this damn bus crash, and who the hell is behind it all.  In the words of Rob Thomas, I’m “jazzed” about the upcoming eps and seeing how it all plays out.

I’ve received a bunch of emails asking for my theory on the Veronica Mars mysteries, so I thought I would take a stab, and then we can see how close (or probably how far off) I am to the real season ender.  First off, I haven’t worked out all the kinks, and there are major holes but I’ll give it a shot.  Oh, my theory is based on a spoiler I read, so if you aren’t interested in the spoilers (which could turn out to be fake), you might want to stop reading.

Here we go…

Who blew up the bus?

I think it was Woody who was behind the bus crash.  At first I didn’t think Rob Thomas and crew would do that, because it might be too obvious, but then I thought, well, if the circumstances around WHY he blew up the bus were interesting enough, then it could just work out.

Steve GuttenbergWhy did he do it?  Well, I think Woody was sexually inappropriate with some of the kids he coached in Little League back in the day.  Once he was elected Mayor, his old deeds came back to haunt him.  I think one of his victims was blackmailing him, and when Woody figured out who it was (or rather who he thought it was), he blew up the bus, and thus his blackmailer. I don’t know exactly who Woody’s victim was, but my money is on little Cassidy Casablancas. A spoiler revealed that Cassidy was on one of Woody’s teams – a fact wasn’t fully disclosed at first.

In this past week’s Woody-centric episode, there were perhaps a few clues:

  • If you pay close attention to the video from inside Woody’s house, the camera briefly pans in on pics of the various Little League teams that Woody coached.
  • Neptune’s mayor seemed to really take a liking to Logan Echolls.  Not that I can blame him…I’m just saying.
  • We all know that Beav is smitten with Mac, but he’s just not comfortable enough to take their physical relationship any further.  A guy in HS wanting to take things slow with his eager girlfriend? Yeah, I know it can happen…I just find it a little suspect.  I also found Cassidy’s reaction to Veronica’s knowledge of the situation to be a bit concerning.  What does he now want our little Super Sleuth to know about?

Listen, I am probably way off here, and I’m the first to admit that spoilers can often be junk.  But I thought I would share where my head is at right now.  I’d love to hear your theories too.  If you have theories on who crashed the bus, or who killed Felix, make sure you share them here.

I think your theory is great. At first I definitely thought it wasn’t Woody, as it seemed too obvious, but after reading a great theory on Entertainment Weekly online (ew.com) I think that Woody had enough problems that he needed to get rid of students, or a teacher on the bus.

No, I think you have a good theory and relevant information to back it up. The main thing that makes me think that the Mayor is behind the bus crash is that he called Gia and told her not to take the bus home. Why would he do that if the bus was safe or he didn’t know something. What you said about Beaver also makes sense. I’m sure hes not gay so there must be something that happened to him that makes him not want to fool around with Mac. He said that he didn’t want to talk about it and dumped her after hearing that she told Veronica. We all know Veronica can find out stuff on anyone. If you have seen the show tonight then you would have learned that two of the kids that the mayor coached died in the bus crash. I don’t remember the bus crash episode well but the Mayor was at the game when it wasn’t really important that he would be there. It can’t be him alone. I think Kendell had something to do with it. I noticed that Duncan was in the preview for next week. Veronica was pointing a gun at someone in the preview. She said that they were behind the bus crash but you didn’t see who it was. I’m trying to figure out how Aaron fits into everything. He threatens to kill Veronica in the preview and he can’t be free of punishment since he probably did kill Lilly. The rat would have forced the rich people off the bus and Logan was supposed to be there. So either his father wanted him not to take the bus home or he wanted to kill him but didn’t know about the rat. I know Veronica will discover who blew up the bus next week but its difficult to wait. Later.
