Q&A with John Krasinski

John KrasinskiGMMRers..what a day! What a day! I was lucky enough to participate in the Golden Derby online Q&A with my #1 TV boyfriend, John Krasinski. Needless to say it was a thrill.
There was a slight moment of panic when John couldn’t get into the chat, but his publicist, Rebecca, was kind enough to transcribe all of John’s answers for him.

As if the Q&A wasn’t fun enough, I also was stoked to receive a nice note today from John Krasinski himself. It completely made my day…week…year.

Hey xxxxx –
Just wanted to say hi and thanks so much for all your AMAZING support! The Office loves your website!!!

JK

Swoon. Um, John Krasinski knows my name? AND he knows how to spell my name? My dad doesn’t even spell my name right. Sigh.

Anyway, we got some great scoop from John including what it was like to film Casino Night, how he feels about the Emmy buzz, what he thinks of the fans, who his favorite office-mate is, and much, much more.

The following in a transcript of the Q&A put together by Tanster of OfficeTally.com. You guys have NO IDEA how hard this was to transcribe, and how long it took. So PLEASE head over to OfficeTally.com right now and thank Tanster for doing this. Now, sit back and get ready, because there’s a lot of J. Kras goodness ahead.
(Might as well start off with one of my questions and one from tanster.)

tanster: Hi John, this is tanster from officetally.com. Have you had a chance to check out the various Office fansites, discussion forums, and fan videos?

JK: TANSTER – We are all very much aware of all the incredible sites and when I have the time, I defintiely have visited a few. Yours ROCKS, thanks for all the support!!

GMMR: John, I read that your heard about our petition to “Supersize the Office”. Can you talk about the fan impact on the show?

JK: GMMR – the fan impact on the show has been MONUMENTAL it’s the whole reason why we are where we are so first of all, thank you guys SO much. That was INCREDIBLE, and we all cheered on set the day we found out about it. As far as the impact, they say things are cliche because they are true, and it is true that everybody can make a difference. NBC definitely did it because of YOU guys. (GMMR…holla)

(Before the Q&A started it was revealed that John submitted “The Secret” and “Casino Night” as his Emmy submission.)

Tom O’Neil: We’d like to know why you picked those two episodes of “Office” as your Emmy submissions

JK: Basically, both of those episodes he thought were the biggest episodes for Pam & Jim

Tom O’Neil: “The Secret” and “Casino Night”

JK: The Secret was a lighter, funnier episode because he was getting cheered up by Michael, so it was a big Steve & John episode, which was really fun.

Tom O’Neil: And Casino Nights?

JK:…and then Casino Night was just one of the most fun experiences he’s had, and definitely the best episode they’ve done.

David Denman, “The Office’s” Roy, Exclusive Interview with GMMR

David Denman, The Office's Roy: GMMR Exclusive Interview

We all know that there are two sides to every story. But in the case of today’s hottest TV love triangle, there are actually three stories to be told. Earlier this year, GMMR got the scoop from The Office’s Jim and Pam, and now it’s time to hear from the one guy in the world that won’t be squeeing when he hears about Jim and Pam’s casino night smooching.

So what’s it like to be the part of the triangle that no one is rooting for? Perhaps no one in TV knows this better than David Denman, who plays Pam Beesly’s fiancé, Roy on NBC’s The Office. At times it seems as if Roy’s only role is to be the obstacle standing in the way of Jim and Pam being together. But true fans of the show know it’s not that simple.

Pam and Roy have a history. Pam’s been with Roy for a long time, so he can’t be all that bad, right? Shouldn’t there be a few viewers out there pulling for Pam and Roy? “No way! You’re not supposed to like Roy”, Denman laughed. “You can’t possibly watch the show and think ‘gee, I think Roy and Pam should really be together’..ha ha. It doesn’t make any sense on any planet. There is no way in the world you could not want her to be with Jim. That’s a big part of the show…that’s what everyone wants to happen.”

So if everyone is so clearly pulling for Pam and Jim, then why does Denman think Pam has stayed with Roy for so long? “To me, in their relationship, they don’t know anything different.”, the actor noted. “Roy has gotten really complacent and just not really at all paying attention to nurturing that relationship. He was like the football jock in high school, and things have just not gone the way he thought they were going to, but I don’t think he realizes that. And Pam, she’s just always been there so he’s never had to try. He’s never had to put forth the effort, because she’s always been somewhat happy about what’s been going on, so he has kind of taken advantage of that situation. Not that he’s trying to, but come on, he’s a bit of a knucklehead.”

Roy, Pam, Jim from The Office

One thing is for sure with The Office, we see what the camera wants us to see. With the mockumentary style approach to the show, the cameraman’s point of view is the one we the viewers are privy to. And the cameraman is definitely pulling for Jim and Pam. The viewers get to see very little of Pam and Roy’s life together, but perhaps that will change next season if Denman has his way. “One of the things that I have spoken to the writers and Greg Daniels about was that we really only show one side of Roy, and it’s not a pretty one. So it would be nice to actually see some other sides. I honestly don’t know what they’re going to do. Roy doesn’t think about a lot of things that he should to be Pam’s partner, so maybe he’ll start thinking about things more next season.”

It’s once again raining here in Boston (surprise, surprise), so I’m eternally grateful for these fab pics of one of TV Guide’s Hottest Men, Wentworth Miller. One look and the sun will be shining and the birds chirping. (Just Jared)

Dharma has maybe lost it a little bit without Greg. Jenna Elfman had a nasty altercation with someone on the street who clearly doesn’t share her views on Scientology. Honestly, to each their own, but from a PR perspective, shouldn’t celebrity Scientologists just chill out these days and do everything in their power to bring only positive news forth about their religion…um, organization…um, way of life? (Fatback & Collards)

We loathed them on The Amazing Race, and now Jonathan and Victoria are back to make themselves look ever worse on network TV (I didn’t know that was possible). The notorious couple was on Celebrity Fear Factor and chaos ensued when Jonathan and host Joe Rogan threw down. Check out the video. (DuckyxDale)

Not everyone loves Oprah. Especially when she shows up at your wedding, univited and with a camera crew. If Oprah shows up at my wedding, she better at least bring a BMW (and Nate Berkus). (Glitterati Gossip)

President Genius strikes again. Bush now gets off on making fun of the disabled. Way to go Georgie. Check out the video of George Bush poking fun at a blind reporter. And no, I’m not kidding. This really happened. (Best Week Ever)

A special thanks to Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune for listing GiveMeMyRemote.com as one of TV sites she checksout “fairly obsessively” in her article ‘Highlights of the TV Blogs, Summer Version’. Right back at ya, Mo! (Chicago Tribune)

and finally….

Holy S#%t this is hysterical. I haven’t caught Jamie Kennedy’s new show Blowin’ Up, because well…I am 30 and I try to avoid MTV as much as possible (all due respect to RW/RR Challenge and The Hills). But you have to check out this video of Jamie’s video Rollin’ with Saget. This is genius. Warning the language may be a tad offensive.

Nothing like keeping it in the family. Former onscreen siblings, and current offscreen couple, Everwood’s Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt look adorable in these pics from the premiere of Chris’s new movie Strangers with Candy. I’ve known that Emily and Chris have been together for awhile, but there’s something just not right about seeing Amy Abott kiss Bright Abbott.

Rescue Me Recap

Did you miss last night’s Rescue Me? I personally can’t wait to go home at lunch to watch it. As always, the fabulous Julie has recapped last night’s episode for anyone who might have missed it.

Rescue Me – “Torture”
June 13, 2006

The episode may be called Torture, but watching this show is anything but that.

Lou’s sick in the bathroom when the Chief interrupts him, asking if he can borrow that couple hundred bucks he asked about. Lou says he doesn’t have it, and gets downright belligerent when pressed. He storms out.

Tommy sneaks a cigarette outside when Sean comes up. Tommy starts asking him when they’re going to meet his girlfriend. Sean waffles, changing the subject to the previous night’s fight. “That was some brouhaha. I mean not ‘ha-ha, funny’ just sort-of-actually it wasn’t funny at all, it was just sickening, kind of.” Tommy explains how kicking ass is how the Irish resolve things. Sean continues squirming as he exits.

Franco wakes up at Mrs. Sarandon’s. Give us her name, people! When Franco says he has to get home to his daughter, she’s not freaked out at all. She actually wants to meet Keela.

Chief does laundry with the adulterous former surgeon Ellis Grey (wait…that’s another show…here she’s Rose). They discuss how he’s planning to ask his wife’s estranged brother for money to help out with the expenses.

Saved…Saved Me From a Boring Night of TV

Saved

TNT…they know drama, and they also know how to hook me into a new show. Feature the adorable Tom Everett Scott and I’m there. Ok, so maybe TES (as we his friends like to call him) got me there, but the writing and the acting kept me in front of the TV last night to watch the series premiere of Saved.

Tom Everett Scott plays Wyatt Cole, a tragically flawed paramedic with an inclination towards gambling, or as he likes to call it “risk assessment”. His predaliction for “risk assessing” may get his ass handed to him a few times, but when you take a huge pot on pocket 3’s you have to expect a little backlash, no?

Going all in on pocket 3’s is kind a metaphor on how Wyatt lives his life. He’s the kind of guy that gets off on being unpredictable. Wyatt is the guy who saves lives everyday as a paramedic, but seems to hate doctors, despite having attended med school for two years. I guess it isn’t a huge shock when we discover he has daddy issues. Wyatt’s father, who does nothing to hide his disappointment in his son, is the Chief of Medicine at the hospital where Wyatt often works. Avoiding him isn’t always easy.

It’s also not easy for Wyatt to avoid the woman whose break-up was the catalyst for him dropping out of med school when she works at the hospital. too Alice, Wyatt’s ex, went on to finish med school and now spends her days saving lives, preparing to move in with her Dr.-boyfriend, and pining for Wyatt. Wyatt definitely still carrying that dang torch for Alice…so much so that her rejection of him again could throw him off the edge.

If there is one person that can keep Wyatt level headed it’s his partner in all things paramedics – Sack. Sack seems to be the one guy that can break through Wyatt’s shield of sarcasm and really get him to think about the consequences of his choices. Sack knows a little something about actions and consequences. He bailed on his baby’s momma, and is now trying really hard to establish a relationship with the son he abandoned.

After one episode, I’m already intrigued by these characters and their lives. I honestly wasn’t prepared to like this show. I wasn’t sure if I could deal with yet another medical-based drama, but Saved is definitely not cookie cutter. Yes it has undertones of Grey’s Anatomy and perhaps ER (when ER was a show worth watching), but the approach is more gritty, and the characters a touch more flawed and intriguing.

Among all the summer reality shows you are going to be faced with, Saved is something different, and definitely worth checking out.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a full recap of the first episode.

If you saw last night’s premiere of Saved let me know what you think!!

Entourage Recap (Season Premiere: “Aquamom”)

Entourage Cast

Entourage is back, and god dammit did I miss this show!!! Vince, Eric, Turtle, Drama, Shauna, Ari and Lloyd were back tonight for the third season premiere of HBO’s Entourage. The only excuse for you to not watch this f’ing hysterical show is that you don’t have HBO. Screw that. One of your friends must have HBO, so get your ass over to his or her house every Sunday night and watch it. No excuses.

For those of you who are new to Entourage, let me sum it up for you. Vincent Chase (Adriene Grenier) is a hot, up and coming actor who moves to LA from New York and brings along his three best friends for the ride. Eric (Kevin Connelly) is Vincent’s best friend and manager..and usually Vince’s voice of reason. Turtle (Jerry Ferrrara) is Vince’s go to guy. Turtle’s not good for much other than hanging on Vince and banging his leftovers, but he keeps us amused. Johnny “Drama” Chase (Kevin Dillon) is Vince’s older half brother. A washed up, struggling actor, Drama fluctuates between the B list and the D list, all while trying to ride his baby brother’s coattails. With his best friends always at his side, Vince is ready to be the next big thing in Hollywood. To help get him there, Vince works with his egomanical yet desperate agent, Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), Ari’s assistant Lloyd (Rex Lee), and Shauna (Debi Mazar) his bitchy but fabulous publicist.

I’m going to be recapping Entourage every Sunday night, so if you don’t have HBO, and you don’t have one friend that has it (which is complete BS), then you better be here reading the recaps, because all the cool kids will be talking about Entourage on Monday mornings, and I don’t want you to feel left out.

Here we go….

Last season on Entourage

Vince landed “Aquaman” with James Cameron at the helm. He almost gave it up after falling for, and getting dumped by co-star Mandy Moore. Ari lost his job, and decided to start out on his own…well, he’s got Lloyd, so that’s a start. Turtle dabbled in the musiz biz by signing an up and coming rapper. And Drama…well, Drama was being drama.

……………………………….

The boys have a few days before the big premiere of “Aquaman”. They’ve got some work to do, and that work involves finding smokin’ women to invite to the premiere. Most of these women they find walking around the streets of LA. My boys aren’t that picky. Although a woman with half a brain would deny Turtle on the spot since he’s sporting a “Welcome to New York Johnny” t-shirt….F-Damon and his money grubbing ways. Turtle and Drama have blown through the tickets fast, and after meeting two video-hos, they go to Ari to demand two more tickets. Ari gives them two of James Woods tickets. Jimmy is pissed and demands the tickets back from Turtle and Drama.

Ari tells Vince what a big deal this premiere is. It’s important that he bring the right woman on the red carpet. E agrees since Vince will probably be linked with this girl in the press for a long time. Vince tells them he knows exactly who the perfect woman is….his Mom. One problem, Mama Chase (Mercedes Ruehl) isn’t big on traveling. After Vince ambushes her liveon the radio, she agress to fly out to LA.

Vince goes on a mad shopping spree to find his mother the right dress and the right jewels. The chick at the jewelry store gives Vince her number, and later he decides to ask her out. Um, Vince, have you not seen The OC.…this is Haley Nichol. That girl is trouble. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

While picking out baubles, Eric gets a call from Vince’s mom saying that she isn’t going to come after all. She can’t get on the plane. Vince is bummed.

On a mission to cheer Vince up, E and Turtle hatch a plan to get Vince’s mother to LA. As it turns out, the plan involved flying all the moms out to LA from New York. So much for the ass the guys were hoping to get at the premiere…the boys take their moms along as dates. All together now…Awwww.

Oh yeah, Ari is broke and is bouncing checks all over Hollywood. He taps his wife, but not in the good way…she’s hesitant to give him more money but despiter her better judgement. Ari’s whole world is dependent on “Aquaman” opening big and Vince becoming a huge star.

What we learned from Entourage this week….

Top tall: This is when someone’s torso is too long and their legs are too short.

Quotes of the week:

Ari’s Wife: “…my father put that money aside for me in case something happened to us, and it’s almost gone.”

Ari: ” But we’re still here, and I could’ve banged Heidi Klum when she was 23 but I took a pass okay? What the f*ck is going to make me leave now?”

Turtle: “I got it! Jessica Biel. Take Jessica Biel, Vince.”

Vince: “I don’t know Jessica Biel, Turtle.”

Turtle: “So get to know her. Get to bang her. We’ll get to know her so I can bang her.”

Let’s Set a Date…How About June 10th?

So You Think You Can Dance? No, I actually suck, unless of course I’ve had 5 Capt’n & Cokes, and then I am the second coming of Paula Abdul (and by that I mean, drunk off my ass and dancing with every man at the bar). I’ve been watching the show, and I LOVE it. I haven’t really found the time to write about it (I’m too busy boozing). Lucky for you, DuckyxDale and I have the same snarky thoughts on the show (DuckyxDale)

You know how I LOVE my youtube.com videos. Well The TV Addict know tells us how we can save them on our computer and keep them forever. Because really, I don’t think a day can go by without me watching: Jim & Pam’s kiss from the Office season finale, the Dick Casablancas ‘Come Baby Come’ video, John Krasinski’s Jarhead behind the scenes home movie, or this awesome Jason Dohring/Logan Echolls video. (The TV Addict)

I have to say, that although I am probably on Team LC, Kristin Cavallari is getting hotter and hotter by the day. Looks like leaving life in Laguna Beach behind has done wonders for the girl. (Bricks and Stones)

And speaking of my Laguna Bitches, it looks like Stephen Colletti is following in the footsteps of his ex and is trying out this acting stuff. Check out the pics of him (p 1-3) on the set of a new movie with Amber Tamblyn. That kid is delicious…I don’t care how young he is. (Pics courtesy of Jeff Wilhelm)

My friend Dan (aka DuckyxDale) is raising money for HIV/AIDS prevention and education by trekking 275+ miles on a tricycle. Ok, maybe not a tricycle, but those pics would be great, wouldn’t they? Seriously though, he is biking from Gettysburg to Manhattan for the AIDS Ride 2006.
PLEASE take the time to read the entire post below, and if you have the means to contribute, I ask that you please do so. All the necessary links are at the bottom of the post, and you can also contribute by clicking on the callout to the right of this post. Come on GMMRers, I know we can make a difference!!!

On September 15th I will begin a three day, 275+ mile bike ride from Gettysburg National Park to Manhattan and I hope to raise $3,500 for The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, a NYC based non-profit organization dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and prevention but also to programs, counseling, and care for those living with or affected by the disease. The ride is called Braking The Cycle.

I have participated in 3 AIDS Rides since 2002 and this will be my 4th. In that time I’ve raised almost $9,000 and have rode thousands of miles on my damn bike. From NYC to Boston; From Border to Border the whole state of Massachusetts; From Woods to Witches (Berkshires to Salem) yours truly has suffered through sweltering heat, blistering sun, torrential rains, and even a tornado (2004) in hopes of raising money and awareness for HIV/AIDS prevention and education.

AIDS is 25 years old this year. Not an anniversary you celebrate with diamonds or copies of Arrested Development on dvd but an anniversary that reminds us that this disease still has no cure. That this disease is still spreading. That this disease is not getting the federal and local funds necessary to continue research and education in communities which need it the most. By supporting me and sponsoring me on this ride you can help make sure this 25th year is a year to remember; a year you did something!

Head on over to my site and read up on the ride, the route, The Center, AIDS information as well as my ride blog which will continue to grow as I push harder to train, as I seek out a new bike for the cheapest price possible, and as funds start coming in!

Please forward this on to any of your fellow tv fans, fellow activists, fans of duckyxdale, and fans of The Amazing Race! Oh yes my friends, you didn’t think I’d go without a TV tie-in! Another rider on Braking The Cycle is none other than Amazing Race 4 winner Chip Arndt (formerly of Reichen and Chip). I hope to score an interview while riding. Hey in 2004 I mastered peeing while seated and riding so anything is possible!

That’s 3 days – 100 miles a day – 8 hours a day – And TAR Winner Chip… Salada time on a bike folks and you can help make it more enjoyable! If you love GMMR’s site and you don’t want her to come to your house personally and beat each one of you, I’d like to urge you to read up on my ride and ride history as well as consider donating!

Just this week people have given almost $2000 to rent a Ferris Wheel to cart off to Dawn Ostroff’s house in protest of Everwood being canceled… Not that it isn’t an amazing gesture, but this is a legit charity with human lives at risk… I think you can swing this for a great cause what do you say?

If you can donate any amount I would appreciate it! If you can donate $25, $50, $100 or more you will receive some duckyxdale swag! When you donate, please remember to select my information “Dan McCallum – #59”!
