Krasinski & Zellweger – So Not True

John Krasinski and Renee Zellweger

Listen, I don’t want to turn GMMR into a celebrity gossip blog, but when the tabloids are going after my boy, well I just can’t stand back and watch. I refuse…REFUSE to believe that John Krasinski and Rene Zellweger are anything more than co-stars and new friends. Sure, they were spotted out together in North Carolina where they are shooting Leatherheads, but think about it. Who else do they know there? It’s not like all their friends are with them in North Carolina. It would make sense for them to spend some time together.

All the speculation about them dating stems from being seen together ONE day/night. They attended a comedy show and then supposedly a movie before heading back to the hotel. And all the hoopla about going back to the hotel together? Well duh, of course they’d be staying in the same hotel. Sorry, but I can’t even begin to tell you the number of emails I’ve received over the past few days about this matter. I thought I would share my two cents and be done with it. So there! (And how weird is it to see John in a tabloid magazine?! Bizarre).

What I Watched this Weekend

What to do when your traveling alone for just about 2 weeks in a strange city with so-so weather? I got out a little and explored, but I’m a pretty social person so walking around a new city all by myself was rather depressing. So when the rain hit I was secretly relieved to head back to my hotel room and watch a little TV. Between my hotel TV and my new Slingbox (which I love), I stayed caught up with my shows. Here’s a little of what I watched (in no particular order)

Saturday Night Live – I almost skipped it this week when I saw Scarlett Johannson was hosting. For some reason I thought Scarlett already hosted this season and that this ep was a repeat. But it wasn’t, and it was eh. I can’t think of one sketch that really had me laughing. We talked a lot about SNL here last week, and I think we all agreed that a good host was one that really committed to what they were doing and took the time to learn the sketches and give it their all. Based on that, I think Scarlett did a great job. She didn’t just show up and read the cue cards, but really made each sketch her own (ok now I sound like an American Idol judge).

Click – Caught Adam Sandler’s movie “Click”. Hmm. It was enjoyable enough. I’m glad I didn’t see it in the movie theater though. Here’s what kind of bugs me about Sandler. I think he has potential to be a really incredible actor, but it’s almost as if he’s afraid to really go there. Just when you think he can do something interesting with a dramatic role he pulls back and relies on his comedy bag of tricks to get him through the scene. I’ve heard great things about him in “Reign on Me”, so maybe I’m wrong. I’d like to see Sandler leave the comedy behind when it’s not called for. Great comedians have done it – just look at Jim Carrey, Will Smith, hell even the oh-so-annoying Robin Williams knows when to let it go (and he’s usually at his best when he does).

Rashida Jones & John Krasinski in NYC (WARNING: SPOILERS for THE OFFICE)

WARNING! This post contains speculation based on upcoming episode descriptions for “The Office”. Read at your own risk!!

Someone over on the NBC.com boards snapped these photos of my main squeeze John Krasinski and his “friend” Rashida Jones exiting a NYC subway. At first I let out a huge sigh of relief…it was nice to see John with Rashida especially after being forced to listen to all this John Krasinski/Rene Zellweger nonsense this past week. And you can tell how REALLY down on the JKras/Rene rumors when I get excited to see John with Rashida (I’ve come so far).

Anyway, I figured the two VERY close friends were just spending some quality time together as they often do in NYC. But on further inspection of the pics, you can see Paul Lieberstein (Toby) in the background. And in another shot you can see a camera off to the left.

We know that they are done shooting episodes of The Office. We also know that John wrapped earlier than the rest of the cast to head down to the Carolina’s to shoot “Leatherheads“. Could they perhaps doing some reshoots for the season finale? Here are some working theories and observations…

30 Rock Recap: Cleveland

April 20, 2007 by

Title: “Cleveland”
Original airdate: April 19, 2007
GMMR Recapper: Brian

We open with Liz and Floyd checking out a posh uptown apartment with a killer view. We also get introduced to a killer exclamation when Liz sees the rent: By the hammer of Thor! If Floyd gets his big promotion he’ll be making “get away with murdering my first wife” kind of dough.

These two are getting serious. Floyd envisions her moving her humidifiers into the place. Of course that goes out the window when an Arab gentleman takes the apartment so his son has a place to keep his motorcycles.

In Jack’s office, Phoebe reintroduces herself to Liz for the umpteenth time. It’s endearingly annoying. Or vice versa. She and Jack just returned from Paris. While she’s off to Christie’s to sort through Chinese erotica up for auction, Jack tells Liz he’d like her to get to know his new fiancé.

Liz: Have you guys set a date?
Jack: May 18. That’s Bianca’s (his ex-wife’s) wedding date. It was my idea.
Liz: That’s fast.
Jack: There are no rules in love, Lemon. My Princeton roommate did it the right way and dated his college girlfriend for 13 years, and the marriage didn’t last eight months. And now he’s a post-op trans-gender.

Jack gives Liz his gold card (made of real gold) to take Phoebe and Jenna for lunch and shopping.

Sean Penn & Stephen Colbert: Meta-Free-Phor-All

You don’t get to attack our President and his “blood stained underwear” without Stephen Colbert challenging you to a duel. And that’s exactly what happened when Stephen Colbert confronted Sean Penn about the candid remarks the actor made last week. The gentlemen worked out their differences during in “Meta-Free-Phor-All” fashion on Colbert’s show this week. This is pretty funny stuff, and made even funnier since it’s Sean Penn – who knew he had a sense of humor?

Sanjaya on Letterman Tonight

Don’t feel bad for Sanjaya Malakar. Perhaps American Idol’s most infamous contestant isn’t crying tears over being ousted from the competition. Let’s face it, Sanjaya is going to be famous for more than his singing. I mean how many other past Idolcontestants are asked to present David Letterman’s Top Ten List? But that’s just what Sanjaya is doing tonight Monday. Tune in to see the boy in action…and maybe his sister will show up to – BONUS for you boys!

Jim Halpert as Dwight K. Schrute

Whoever says it never rains in Southern California was WRONG.  I just landed in L.A. and it’s pouring rain and miserable.  But, this new Office video has had me laughing for the past two days.  I wanted to pass it on for those of you who haven’t seen it yet.  I’m guessing this is the cold open for the upcoming episode “Product Recall”, but I can’t say for sure.  So to be on the safe side…SPOILER ALERT!!

This is fantastic!!

Grey’s Anatomy Recap: Time After Time

best_greyscast.jpg

Damn you Grey’s Anatomy! Why do you have to toy with my heart like that? Why do you have me rooting for McCheat and his McBeauty Queen? George cheated on his wife – a woman whom I have loved since her first minute on this show. I should hate George. I should want to crush him like a little bug for doing this to Callie. But for some reason I can’t hate him. Actually I loved him just a bit more after last night’s episode. Is that twisted?

If you missed it, here’s a quick recap of what went down.

Meredith’s father’s wife (not even sure I know her name…but you know the chick form St. Elmo’s Fire) has been up Mer’s ass 24/7. She’s bringing her groceries every week and stopping by unexpectadly to chat. Since no one ever hugged Meredith as a child, and because she’s dark and twisty, Meredith goes off on St. Elmo and tells her to back the hell off. St. Elmo finally puts Meredith in her place saying that she’s doing all this out of guilt, and she’s just trying to be nice so Mer better stop being rude. That hits home with Meredith and the two are off to being fast friends.

Meanwhile, McDreamy is getting desperate about getting the Chief of Surgery. Richard is reluctant to back him because of a promise he made to Ellis to take care of Meredith. The Chief knows all too well the toll that position can take on a relationship. McDreamy seems to be contemplating the job vs Meredith. Bailey tells him to always choose love over the job. I love Bailey.

The Office Thursday at Give Me My Remote

The Office Thursday at Give Me My Remote

Listen, it’s Thursday so naturally it’s Office Thursday. But tonight is the very last repeat of Season 3, so I thought we could do a little repeat viewing of our own. So for this Office Thursday I thought I would change things up a bit and tap into your inner Dunder Mifflin as you answer the 10 questions below.

But before we get started, a few odds & ends:

  • Don’t forget to check out “Back from Vacation” tonight at 8:30/7:30 on NBC
  • Since it’s a rerun and I’m traveling, we aren’t going to have a LIVE Office chat tonight. But next week we’ll be chatting it up over at Buddy TV so mark your calendars now!
  • Make sure you check out Kate Flannery’s blog over at TV Guide
  • As always, OfficeTally.com is the place to keep up with the Dunder Mifflinites 24/7
  • I didn’t create the Office cartoons above, but I’m looking for the person who did so I can give proper credit. If it’s you, please let me know.

#1: Desert Island Episodes
If you could only bring ONE episode of The Office with you on a desert island which one would you bring?

#2: Who Would You Do?
This long and hard about this one (TWSS). You can choose one and only one person that we’ve met via The Office. And remember, “who would you do” is NOT the same as who would like to grow old with. Think about it.

#3: The Dundie Goes To…
Secretly I know you want to be Michael Scott, so here’s your chance. You get to come up with ONE new Dundie and present it at this year’s Dundies (location TBD since someone who shall remain nameless has prevented us from returning to Chilis)

#4: Fight! Fight! Fight!…
We’re going back to the DoJo for this one. Mano vs. Mano. Chick vs. Chick (I said “vs.” NOT “on”). Who would be victorious in the following fights:

  • Jim vs. Dwight
  • Ryan vs. Stanley
  • Toby vs. Michael
  • Karen vs. Pam
  • Kelly vs. Angela

#5: Abraham Lincoln once said, that if you’re a racist, I will attack you with the North, and those are the principles that I carry with me in the workplace.
If Michal Scott can quote Abraham Lincoln, YOU should be able to quote The Office. Tell us your favorite Office quote.

Gilmore Girls Reacp: Hay Bale Maze

GIlmore Girls Recap

Title: “Hay Bale Maze”
Original Airdate: April 17, 2006
GMMR Recapper: Whirl

It’s spring time in Star’s Hollow which means its time for the annual “Spring Fling” which is another small town festival that everyone loves. This year, however, Taylor has hoodwinked the town’s folk into having a hay maze, which is exactly what it sounds like. No one is excited about the giant maze of hay that ends up taking over the town but they’ll all be changing their tune by the end of the episode. More on that later.

Meanwhile Logan is crashing at Rory’s pad for the time being and Paris is pretty unimpressed about that. Personally I would love to get to look at Logan first thing in the morning but to each there own. Rory’s pretty self involved right now because she has her first real interview at a real newspaper in Providence. Of course her interview goes wonderfully and so she obsesses over whether or now she’ll actually get the job. Thank God she decided to bring Logan home for the festival so I have something pretty to look on while she debates her maybe future.

Finally…Finally!!

Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap

Sanjaya MalakarSweet Jesus SANJAYA finally went home tonight. It’s about damn time! Joining Sanjaya in the bottom three tonight were LaKisha and (get this) Blake. Totally didn’t see that one coming, and neither did Blake. Mr. Lewis was sent back to the coach as LaKisha and Sanjaya sweated it out. As Seacrest was babbling about the number of votes received yada, yada, yada you could tell that LaKisha was mentally preparing herself to go home. I think she really thought she was gone. But the girl lives to sing another day. Let’s hope we get to see the return of the LaKisha we fell in love with during Week One.

So that’s it…Chris Daughtry’s “Home” accompanied Sanjaya’s video goodbye. And for the final time we were forced to listen to Sanjaya sing on the Idol stage (well at least until the finale). Bye Sanjaya – I’d like to say it’s been fun, but…

SNL’s Sofa King Sketch

April 18, 2007 by

Just a little hump day fun.  If you need a laugh in the middle of the work day, check out this funny sketch from this past week’s Saturday Night Live.  And if you’ve already seen ‘The Sofa Kings’ then you already know it’s funny and you’ll want to watch it again…right?

[gv data=”jDn3fpkBLV8″][/gv]

So let’s talk SNL for a minute. I’m not sure how I feel about this season of SNL. With the advent of TiVo, I’ve watched more of this season than I have in years. And to be honest, I love my Sunday morning ritual of Dunkin’ Donuts and SNL.  But I just can’t get over how uneven the show is. Some skits are fantastic, while others are so lifeless it’s hard to imagine that comedy writers not only came up with it, but thought it was good enough to make the cut and on to the air.

For me it’s not the cast.  I actually really love this cast (for the most pasrt).  Relative newbies Kristin Wiig, Jason Sudekis are a fantastic addition to the cast (and I’m not just saying that since I developed a major crush on Sudekis ever since he played Jim Halpert in the SNL/Office sketch). Will Forte, Andy Samberg and Bill Hader are really funny, but I think they are underutilized – as is Fred Armisen.  And what’s up with Seth Meyers these days?  He joins the SNL Weekend Update desk and now he’s hardly in any sketches?  I’m kind of over Darrel Hammond – he always delivers, but there’s nothing new and fresh about his imitations. Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph prove week in and week out why they are perhaps the most respected women in comedy.  Oh and Keenan? Sorry dude, but you haven’t won me over yet.

With all these brilliant comedians, SNL should be a slam dunk every week.

For those of you who watch the show like I do (almost) every week, what do you think of this season?
