Can you stand all the awesome TV that’s been on lately?!  It’s crazy…crazy good.  It’s already been a busy TV week and now we are at Thursday, so don’t expect things to ease up.

Just a reminder that tonight’s is the winter premiere of BURN NOTICE on USA so definitely check that out.  And BONES is back with not one, but two new episodes tonight. What a treat for fans that have been waiting months for a new episode.

Lots and lots to choose from. What will YOU be watching?

Ugly Betty | 8pm on ABC
“Sisters on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown”
A family crisis finds Betty torn between work and home, putting her at odds with Hilda; Daniel, Molly, Connor and Wilhelmina try to conceal their escalating love connections

Bones | 8pm on Fox
“Double Trouble in the Panhandle”
The death of a set of female conjoined twins who worked in the circus is investigated. The investigation leads Brennan and Booth to go undercover as a Canadian knife-throwing act, and also causes Booth to come face-to-face with a clown. Guest star Andy Richter.

Bones| 9pm on Fox
“The Fire in the Ice”
Booth may face a trip to a different kind of penalty box when he becomes a suspect in the murder of a rival ice-hockey player with whom he has a history of fighting, and Brennan gets a new FBI partner (Marisa Coughlan) for the case. Former NHL great Luc Robitaille guest stars as himself.

The Office | 9pm on NBC
“Prince Family Paper”

Michael and Dwight go under cover to learn about a competitor; employees hold a debate to decide whether actress Hilary Swank is hot. [GMMR: Um, I have to feel for Hilary Swank here. That’s got to be awkward and uncomfotable for her to watch on a number of levels.]

Everyone in the hospital tries to find a new organ donor for a patient; Mark is left in a compromising position; Cristina tries to avoid Owen.

Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
Criss Angel Is a Douche Bag”

  • Eleventh Hour | 10pm on CBS: A boy’s kidney tumor miraculously disappears after he drinks from a natural spring, and Jacob rushes to the scene to debunk what he believes to be a fraudulent cure.

I want to once again remind everyone that if they would like to see GMMR in the more traditional blog format (all the posts one right after another; view number of comments left on a post), all you have to do is click BLOG at the top of the page.

Although there are sometimes special announcements on the home page, you can bypass it all together and just get to the stories.

I’m going to keep sharing this reminder from time to time because I think people are still a bit confused.

PRIVILEGED: All About the Big Picture

January 21, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Nicole, Privileged

First off, let me congratulate all you Americans on your new president –I snuck off with a few co-workers to watch the inauguration on t.v. yesterday and it was pretty great. And now, for those of you who were able to stop mainlining CNN and watch Privileged, lets get down to business!

There was lots of guy trouble this week – the twins, due to their (or should I say Sage’s) determination to be famous and the time it takes away from the guys who care about them. Megan, because her family is driving her crazy and she doesn’t want to see Will dragged into things any more than he has been. And Marco, who is finding himself missing Keith more and more as each day passes. All that, plus a shout-out to Troy Dyer and a zinger aimed at Miley Cyrus to boot!

Luis was not present in the episode except by phone, but it was clear that Sage was ignoring him in favour of her “career” as a would-be famous person. She and Rose have lots of events to go to, set up by their publicist, and as a result they’re both missing out on time with their boyfriends. Normally I would totally say that your career goals are important and you shouldn’t sacrifice them completely for a guy, but c’mon. When your goal is essentially to be on the cover of US Weekly, it’s not really a sacrifice. Rose, who has gone along with all of the fame-seeking mostly for Sage’s sake, is now finding that the career path is interfering with her and her own man, my favourite, Dave Franco (Zach). I know, I know…he mumbles and he’s awkward…but he’s just so adorable. When he smiles, I smile. And when he’s sad because Pete Wentz and Rose’s ex-douchebag Max are in a picture with her at a nightclub on display on Perez Hilton (ahhhh…I can’t tell you how many times that happened to me in high school), I’m sad for him.

HEROES/LOST Crossover – Funny Stuff!

A fan of LOST and HEROES? You can’t miss this funny and clever crossover episode. Can the cast of HEROES help solve the mysteries of the island on LOST?

Waaaaaaalt !!!

Had you all seen this before? I don’t know how long it’s been out there. But I figured if it were new to me then it might be new to some of you too. I thought it was really well done. Who comes up with this stuff? And by that I mean, thanks!!

Other videos in the LOST series include:

LOST Parody #3 – Harry Potter (Season 1, ep 3)

Lost Parody #4 – Lord of the Rings (Season 1, ep4)

…and others.

Kudos to  Benny & Rafi Fine for creating the video which can be found on JustForLaughs.com

Thanks to @greggrunberg for passing this on.

AMERICAN IDOL Audition Catch Up

Three episodes into the new season and hardly a word from me on AMERICAN IDOL.  How rude?!

Personally I was hoping not to write much about IDOL until we got to Hollywood Week but based on the emails I’ve received, it seems that if some of you are anxious to talk about it now.  So be it…

I guess we should start off with the changes.  The producers have been talking a lot about major changes coming to IDOL.  So far all I’m seeing is the addition of Kara as a judge.  I think I like her.  I don’t know if I’ve totally made up my mind of not.  She’s feisty and I think she knows what she’s talking about. I don’t know how she’s going to be over the long run, but for now I think I’m digging her.

Please allow me to play Captain Obvious here, but my God how irrelevant has Randy Jackson become?  Paula has more worthwhile things to say than this guy.  Why is he even there?  He offers absolutely nothing to the show.  All he does is kiss Simon’s ass.  You’re a music producer and you have no original thoughts to share about the quality of the singers coming in to audition.  It’s getting quite tiresome.

As for the contestants they’ve passed through the Hollywood?  There have been a few standouts. More than a few train wrecks.  And a baffling number of talentless blokes that received the golden ticket to Hollywood.  What’s the point?  Hollywood week is supposed to be the best of the best.  Oy vey!

But here are a few of the good contestants that have really stood out to me.

Remember Emily Wynne-Hughes? No?  How about the rocker with the pink hair?  Ah, yes…her.  Emily got everyone’s attention with her take on ‘Baracudda’.e.  She’s got the rock edge that’s authentic unlike skunk girl from last season.

Then there was Scott Mcintyre who is a talented singer and musician, who also happens to be blind.  Scott had me when he auditioned with one of my favorite songs, Billy Joel’s “And So it Goes”.  As great as Scott was, it was when Ryan tried to high five him that has been the best moment of the season so far for me.

Alex Wagner-Trugman screamed awkward and dorky, but he had me with his take on James Ingram’s “Baby Come to Me”.  I love when someone who doesn’t scream “idol” shows up with some real talent.

Lil Round
s evoked memories of Fantasia both in appearance and in talent.  I’m excited about she can bring to the competition this year. And I like that she’s a bit older and brings that maturity with her.

I Got a Sneak Peek of Season 5 of LOST and…It’s Awesome!

Lost Season 5

Are you ready for LOST? Can you ever really be ready for LOST? Well be as ready as you can be because one of the most compelling shows in the history of TV is back tonight to kick of an all new season. And it’s ok if your expectations are high…they should be. But as someone who has been privileged to see the first three episodes, I can tell you that you will not be let down. The show does not disappoint.

Below are my thoughts on the first two episodes of LOST. For those of you who are strict spoiltarians, you might want to stay away. But the review below is more spoiler-lite – nothing major revealed (that’s not my style) so I think it’s going to be safe for most of you.

We’ll have more on LOST tomorrow, but also stay tuned because the first installment of The TV Talk Podcast‘s “Two Idiots Talk LOST” will be here soon enough.

[Reposted from December 30th]

Yesterday was one of the slowest moving days ever! Why? Because I had to sit in my office all day knowing that as soon as I got home I would be watching the first two episodes of Season 5 of LOST. It was torture! But after watching the first two eps back-to-back, I can tell you it was worth it. So very worth it. You will not be disappointed.

Let’s not go crazy, there is no way I am going to spoil the season premiere of LOST for you. I wouldn’t dream of it (plus it would probably be the last screener I would ever see, so there’s that too). But I can sure share a few tidbits with you. Maybe enough to tide you over until the January 21st premiere.

Although not too revealing, the following are of course spoilers, so please read at your own risk.

LIE TO ME: The Truth Revealed Tonight on Fox (Sneak Peek)

January 21, 2009 by
Filed under #1 featured, Lie to Me

Would I lie to you? Would I lie to you, honey? Now would I say something that just wasn’t true? I’m asking you sugar would I lie-ie-ie to yo?.

The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help…YOU if you find yourself being analyzed by Dr. Ekman and his team. Fox’s new series LIE TO ME, which premieres tonight at 9pm (in the coveted post-IDOL spot), tells stories inspired by Dr. Paul Ekman, a real-life specialist who can read clues embedded in the human face, body and voice to expose both the truth and lies in criminal investigations.

Here’s a little more about tonight’s premiere including some video clips to give you your first glimpse.

In Fox’s tale, Dr. Ekman is called Dr. Cal Lightman and he is portrayed by Tim Roth (“The Incredible Hulk,” “Reservoir Dogs”) Dr. Lightman can detect the truth by analyzing a person’s face, body, voice and speech. When someone shrugs his shoulder, rotates his hand or raises his lower lip, Lightman knows he’s lying. By analyzing facial expressions, he can read feelings – from hidden resentment to sexual attraction to jealousy. But as Lightman well knows, his scientific ability is both a blessing and a curse in his personal life, where family and friends deceive each other as readily as criminals and strangers do. Lightman is the world’s leading deception expert, a scientist who studies facial expressions and involuntary body language to discover not only if you are lying but why.

HOUSE: Painless

Today, we celebrate the dawning of a new era. After years of being sold a false choice about our responsibilities to ourselves and to our neighbors, it is time to unite behind an administration that will fight the tough fights while caring for those who cannot care for themselves. Mindful of the challenges ahead, we must not feel bound to repeat the mistakes of the past. Our community must turn this corner by embracing a new leader, and resisting the urge to spend our days looking in the rear view mirror. From this day forward, let us all work together to allow the creative forces of freedom inspire us in ways that were once unimaginable.

Yes, this is the time for new leadership. It is my great honor and privilege to introduce the engine that will drive us forward to new heights. Without further adieu, ladies and gentleman of GMMR, I present the interim Chief of Staff at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, Dr. Allison Cameron!

Though that introduction may have been a blatant attempt to capitalize on the real news of the day, this week’s House provided a template of newsworthy story arcs that should keep all of us engaged until the season finale.

The episode begins with a big teaser in a hotel elevator, Nora, Sarah and Rebecca all stumble in separately looking tousled and very tired. Seriously they all looked wrecked and were lead to believe they all have been up to no good.
