I’m obsessed with tv so I’ve heard of pretty much all of them haha. But, definitely my favorite comedies are Modern Family which look really funny, Cougar Town (partly because it’s Courtney Cox and partly because it looks funny), and Community (again, partly because it has Joel McHale and partly because it’s funny). All these I’ve heard major buzz mostly around the TCA and they’re all supposed to be really well done. And for the dramas, I’m looking forward to Flash Forward which is basically the new Lost (even though we aren’t supposed to think of it that way lol) and there’s been a lot of talk about Melrose Place, and the pilot is supposed to be better than the 90210 pilot last year. Also, the Good Wife is supposed to be good but I haven’t gotten excited for it yet. I’ll probably end up watching The Beautiful Life and Vampire Diaries. And I’ll most likely watch every pilot because I’m crazy like that lol. I’m soooooo excited for fall!

I’m most excited about Modern Family and Community. The new comedies look awesome! I haven’t heard too much about the dramas or the CW shows other than Mischa Barton’s train wreck that caused some problems with The Beautiful Life. I loved original 90210 but didn’t watch much Melrose Place (c’mon, I’m only 28) so I’m not sure if I’ll be watching new Melrose Place especially because Ashlee Simpson-Wentz annoys me. 🙂

I am most excited about Glee (!!!), Modern Family (mostly from seeing previews before summer movies and the guy from The Class is on it and i love him.), Community (Joel McHale!!!), Cougartown (didnt love the look of it but the more i hear about the more i think it’ll be pretty good). I’m somewhat curious about vampire diaires (to further feed my vampire obssesion), The Beautiful Life, V, and flash forward but I’m not sold yet.

    🙂

OMG I totally forgot about Glee!! I’m sooo excited for it!

  6. Bgirl on August 20th, 2009 3:12 pm

I work in tv, so I’ve actually seen a lot (although not all) of the pilots for the upcoming season.

On the drama side, I’m excited for Life Unexpected, The Good Wife and Vampire Dairies. Also Glee, although since they showed the pilot already, I keep forgetting it’s technically new this season. Inside the Box wasn’t bad, but as a die-hard West Wing fan I feel like I’ve seen the D.C. thing done better already (even though Box is about reporters, not the WH.)

Life Unexpected was well-done, a little sentimental, if you were a fan of Gilmore Girls this is definitely your cup of tea. The Good Wife was probably the strongest of them all, good script, great casting. I wasn’t keen on the premise when I heard about it but the show is well-executed.

Vampire Dairies was a surprise as to how much I liked it. I’m not the CW demographic. But I didn’t know until it was over that it’s from Kevin Williamson, which explains why it’s more than just a show about vampires. I’m not familiar with the source material, except knowing it predates Twilight by a decade or so.

I’ll pass on Miami Trauma, Mercy, Three Rivers, The Deep End, Eastwick and probably The Forgotten, although I’ll see if it’s better now that they’ve recast Christian Slater in the lead role.

Haven’t seen Past Life or Flash Forward or V yet.

On the comedy side, I liked Modern Family and Cougartown, although I’ve read they are reshooting some of Cougartown and making it “less edgy,” so I’m not sure how much I’ll like the new version. Courteney Cox was very appealing in it though.

I’ll pass on Hank, Accidentally on Purpose, 100 Questions. Not terrible, but not great. They might get better from the pilots, but I watch too much tv already so I probably won’t tune in. Waiting to Die was so bad I turned it off before the teaser was over.

    Haven’t seen Community.

I am excited for Flash Forward, Community and Modern Family, and GLEE of course. I don’t want to like Vampire Diaries but I am afraid I probably will get sucked into yet another show on the CW, which makes me feel silly sometimes and old but whatever right?!? I have heard a lot about V but not really sure what it is so I will have to wait on that. With all the returning shows I am not sure how to fit all these into one week!! Hopefully they will be spread throughout the week and my DVR won’t get over loaded!!!

  8. Kayla on August 20th, 2009 3:36 pm

I’m most excited for Glee, Modern Family, Community, Flash Forward, V, and Vampire Diaries, and maybe Life Unexpected.

I’ve heard about but probably won’t watch Cougar Town, Eastwick, Mercy, Trauma, Melrose Place, and Beautiful Life. And aren’t they making an NCIS spin-off? I probably won’t watch that either since I don’t watch the original on a regular basis.

I know there are others I’ve heard about, I just can’t for the life of me come up with the titles.

  9. Laila on August 20th, 2009 3:42 pm

FlashForward is the only new show that comes immediately to mind for me that I’m excited for.

… Yeah, my fall will be pretty devoid of new TV. Oh well.

  10. Randi on August 20th, 2009 3:45 pm

Glee is my hand’s down #1 choice for the most fabulous show of the season. I am so excited that I get teary with every promo. I forgot to add it because it feels like an old favorite. I really can’t wait.

I can’t watch Eastwick because seeing the landmarks of Stars Hollow in a crap show like that will make me cry.

  11. Nathan on August 20th, 2009 3:47 pm

V, FlashForward, Modern Family, Trauma, Glee, Life UneXpected, and The Good Wife are all ones I love to see and heard about.

Also, The Beautiful Life and Melrose Place!

  12. Grant on August 20th, 2009 3:57 pm

I’m looking forward to Flash Forward some, but mostly looking forward to my oldie but goodies returning.

  13. Beth on August 20th, 2009 3:58 pm

i’m skeptical about bringing new shows into my life because i’m pretty happy with the ones i’ve already got (HIMYM, Gossip Girl, The Office, Bones, FNL, SYTYCD)

BUT I am for sure going to add GLEE to the list, no question!
I will check out Community, FlashForward (LOVE Joseph Fiennes), Vampire Diaries (i’m curious), and possibly the Good Wife and Life Unexpected.

I have heard some ‘bleh’ reviews of Accidentally On Purpose which saddens me because I was thinking that it could maybe fill the large void that Samantha Who left…I will not be checking in on Melrose Place because 90210 in my opinion was a large disaster, however they just cast Jenna Dewan so that now makes me slightly optimistic. But I just think I only have room for one CW show in my life 🙂

Over all, I’m just super excited for my old favorites to come back!!! Only a few more weeks!

  14. Sarah (seeleybaby) on August 20th, 2009 4:43 pm

I am excited about ‘Community’ and Life Unexpected. Are you also doing a ‘not excited for’ poll, because that would be Jay Leno.

  15. eelizbic on August 20th, 2009 4:52 pm

I’ve seen Modern Family and it was great! It’s a fairly sardonic, The Office style mocumentary show exposing the ins and outs of three somewhat unconventional families.

I am also super looking forward to GLEE, it can’t come back soon enough! I might check out V because the cast seems awesome (Elizabeth Mitchell & Morena Baccarin anyone?) and I’m a sucker for good sci fi. I watch enough guilty pleasure tv already so I think I’ll avoid Vampire Diaries and anything else on the CW…

Aside from Glee, I’d say I’m mostly looking forward to returning shows. Especially Chuck! Its going to be a heartwrenchingly long wait until March…

  16. Sarah (seeleybaby) on August 20th, 2009 4:59 pm

And I’m excited (maybe) for White Collar on USA

  17. Sara on August 20th, 2009 5:06 pm

The top 3 I’m looking forward to are Glee, Community and Modern Family.

  18. Jen (HIMYM) on August 20th, 2009 6:07 pm

#1 pick: GLEE! I can not WAIT to see more of Glee.

I’m looking forward to Flash Forward, Modern Family, Vampire Diaries, and White Collar.

  19. Nicole on August 20th, 2009 6:11 pm

Glee, Modern Family and Life Unexpected (which I think is a mid-season show but I’m not 100% sure of that). I’ve already seen the pilot for Community and I really loved it. A lot of lol moments for sure.

I have to single out a show that I haven’t seen mentioned yet because I’m really looking forward to it, but I don’t feel like it’s got a lot of buzz: Bored to Death, which is going to be airing on HBO. A LOT of amazing comedic actors are either starring or guest starring and the lead is a personal fave, Jason Schwartzman. Here’s a link to the promo:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVHkxEgPc-A

And add my vote of “Not Excited” to SB’s vote for Jay Leno. I saw a promo for it yesterday and I’m pretty sure my eyes did a 360 degree roll.

  20. Karen (Kath's sis) on August 20th, 2009 6:33 pm

Oh…..there’s more new shows than just Glee?????? GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  21. Billiam on August 20th, 2009 6:40 pm

I will probably check out Flash Forward, but there’s no new show that is getting me especially excited. Also, I feel like alot of the returning shows I love won’t premiere until spring or so (Chuck, Lost, FNL, 24).
But I am excited, as always, for the return of Office and HIMYM, and somewhat for Dollhouse.

  22. spacyz on August 20th, 2009 7:14 pm

I haven’t seen any pilots but based on the commercials, preview videos, and feedback from bloggers, I am looking forward to Community (even the short videos make me laugh out loud, love Joel McHale), Modern Family, V, Flash Forward, Vampire Diaries, and Glee.

I may check out The Good Wife, Three Rivers (just because of Alex O’Loughlin), and NCIS: LA (love the original) but I am not too excited about those.

I am definitely not interested in Eastwick, Cougar Town, or Melrose Place. Those just aren’t my kind of shows.

  23. Kimber on August 20th, 2009 7:23 pm

Definitely the show I am MOST excited for is GLEE! I’ve seen the pilot a few times online, and I love it oh so much already. I remember reading on your site about the new shows when the upfronts ran, and a few shows looked interesting, but I can’t remember all of them! I think if you and Ducky were to do a podcast (even with Rae and Amrie) about new shows, give us a bit of details on plot, cast, etc … that would rock! If that’s not possible, maybe you could do a network-by-network rundown of shows, what you’ve heard, what you think (if you’ve seen them), and whether we should take the time.

Oh! I just remembered, I was kind of looking forward to Human Target too … sounded interesting. And I’m enjoying Defying Gravity, which isn’t really a Fall show, more of a late-summer show. But it’s still new!!

  24. Emily N. on August 20th, 2009 7:33 pm

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard about all the new shows because I follow TV news regularly. The ones that seem the most interesting to me that also got mostly positive reviews are: Glee (FOX), Modern Family (ABC), Cougar Town (ABC), The Beautiful Life (CW), Flash Forward (ABC), and Community (NBC).

  25. bianca33 on August 20th, 2009 11:07 pm

The only show that I am excited about is Three Rivers on CBS Sunday (starting October4) with Alex O’Loughlin.

  26. Dolores on August 21st, 2009 1:07 am

I’ve seen the pilot of Life Unexpected and it’s definitely a MUST see. Absolutely waiting for this one.

  27. Emily on August 21st, 2009 8:59 am

    Glee, Glee, and, um, Glee!

  28. Nicole on August 21st, 2009 9:49 am

I forgot to mention another show I recently saw the pilot for: Sons of Tuscon, which stars Tyler Labine of Reaper. He’s a great comic actor and the pilot had some funny moments. It’s a bit of a gimmicky premise (guy gets paid to pretend to be the father of three kids whose real dad is in jail for a white collar crime so that they don’t have to go to foster care) that clearly has no basis in reality, but the main actors all have a good chemistry. I’m not 100% sold on it yet, but I’ll watch a few before I decide whether to stick with it.

  29. Mattie B on August 21st, 2009 9:53 am

Besides the obvious Glee love, I think I’m looking forward to Flash Forward, V, Stargate Universe, and maybe Community. I’ve heard good things about Modern Family, but my schedule is already kinda full.

I’ve heard The Good Wife is good, so I may catch that in re-runs. I have no intention of watching any of the new medical dramas. I never caught the Vampire obsession, so I reckon I’ll pass on Vampire Diaries. Cougar Town looks like something I would watch if I wasn’t already bogged down, but seeing as I am I’ll probably pass.

And I would like to have some words with whichever Asshat decided Jay Leno 5 times a week was a good idea.
