SURVIVOR: Nicaragua Recap – “Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All”

September 22, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Nicaragua, Survivor, Young vs. Old

Previously on SURVIVOR…

The contestants were split into two tribes. The Espada tribe members are all over the age of 40, while La Flor is comprised by those under 30. So it’s young vs. old (or relatively old) this season. Another twist? The Medallion of Power is now in play.  The tribe that’s in possession can use the MoP in order to gain certain advantages during competitions. Once it’s used, it’s passed to the other team. Last week, Espada opted not to use the MoP and ended up in tribal council. Wendy was sent home. Advantage: La Flor.

One other thing…as you may have noticed, the producers are obsessed with Jimmy Johnson this season. The coach has received so much air time that I’m not sure we’ve even met all his other tribe mates. It’s actually quite annoying and I’m not sure it’s going to end until he gets voted off the island.

It seems we’re seeing more of the same as tonight’s episode picks up. Jill explained that the Espada tribe meets every morning to decide the tasks for the day and assign duties. From the perspective of the audience, it’s really Coach Jimmy telling people what to do. Marty was quite fine letting Jimmy J. sticking his neck out on the line by assuming command. Jimmy T., on the other hand, wasn’t too pleased that people seem to be so focused on Coach.

Over in La Flor, the young’uns were still sounding like a bunch of fools. Sash made the statement that his father is black so therefore he’d like to take as many minorities with him to the end. SURVIVOR as a political and social statement? C’mon now. Then again, this is the same guy that includes “Dating Beautiful Women” as one of his hobbies in his player profile so….

BETTER WITH YOU’s Jake Lacey Talks Nudity

September 22, 2010 by

Tonight, BETTER WITH YOU debuts on ABC, and it’s one of my favorite new comedies this fall.

Starring Jennifer Finnigan (CLOSE TO HOME), Joanna Garcia (PRIVILEGED), Josh Cooke (COMMITTED), Jake Lacey, Kurt Fuller (most recently seen on PSYCH and SUPERNATURAL) and Debra Jo Rupp (THAT 70s SHOW), it revolves around three couples in varying stages of their romantic relationships.

So when I got the chance to talk with Lacey about the show, I wasn’t going to turn that down.

Take a look at our chat, which includes why he’s been stripping so much on the series…

Do me a favor and tune into BETTER WITH YOU tonight at 8:30 P.M. Would love to know what you guys think of it!

Teri Hatcher to Guest Star on SMALLVILLE

September 22, 2010 by

Well, isn’t this a nifty twist?

The CW confirms to Give Me My Remote that DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES’ Teri Hatcher — who played Lois Lane on THE NEW ADVENTURES OF LOIS AND CLARK back in the day — has been cast on SMALLVILLE as the current Lois Lane’s mother, Ella.

And yes, Ella is still dead, but EW — who first reported the casting news — is saying that Lois discovers old video tapes of her mom in episode 8, so that solves the pesky little technicality.

What do you think? Most brilliant casting move ever?

CBS’ new legal drama THE DEFENDERS premieres tonight.

Following Pete (Jerry O’Connell) and Nick (Jim Belushi), defense lawyers in Las Vegas, their clientele will often mirror their unpredictable location.

However, what stands out for us is the dynamic between the leads, so Give Me My Remote went straight to Belushi and O’Connell to investigate the elements behind their chemistry…

COUGAR TOWN: Jennifer Aniston Counsels Jules

September 22, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Cougar Town

Just as Lisa Kudrow seamlessly melted into what has become the kick ass ensemble cast of COUGAR TOWN last year, tonight’s season 2 premiere of the comedy series will showcase Jennifer Aniston in a role that suits her — and the sitcom — well.

Playing Jules (Courteney Cox)’s therapist — who counsels her through the early trials of her new relationship with Grayson (Josh Hopkins) — Aniston’s character is a bit of a know-it-all who may be hiding a few things.

I won’t spoil the reveal for you. Let’s just say she’s a little quirky. And I think you’ll be pleased to see these two FRIENDS actresses together again onscreen for the first time since FX’s DIRT.

Also, the episode as a whole is pretty freakin’ solid and if you watch this evening — bonus! — you’ll learn a sweet, new drinking game that will test those brain muscles good.

COUGAR TOWN season 2 premieres tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.

LIFE UNEXPECTED: Emma Caulfield Makes Her Debut, Lux Makes a Connection

September 22, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Life Unexpected

So, in last week’s season 2 premiere, we met a whole slew of new LIFE UNEXPECTED characters and some of you weighed in with your opinion on who you like and who needs to go. But yesterday evening, the lovely and talented Emma Caulfield joined this group of LUX newbies, playing playing Baze’s boss at his dad’s investment firm as I first reported back in July.

Thoughts on her addition now that you’ve seen her character in action?

It’s not unlike the Susan role she played on BEVERLY HILLS 90210 back in the day, right? Whip smart and no nonsense?

And just like Susan warmed to Mr. Brandon Walsh, Caulfield’s LUX character will be giving Baze a chance before we know it.

Cool?

Better her than Arielle Kebbel’s bartender character, no?

Weigh in below and give us your two cents on Shaun Sipos’ handholding with our girl, Lux, last night too. Are we okay with that? I mean, 23 and 16 is a significant age difference. And though Lux may seem mature, she’s still cheating on English tests and lying to her parents about where she is at night, so yeah, she’s a kid.

One final note: I love me some Ryan. Every girl deserves a dude like him. Will be interesting to see the dynamic between him and Cate now that she’s taking on a producer role at the radio station…

WAREHOUSE 13 Season Finale Recap: Reset

September 22, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Warehouse 13

Syfy best be getting around to announcing a season three of WAREHOUSE 13, and I mean soon.

This show has just gotten better and better as season with each episode and last night’s finale was the culmination of a fantastic season. It incorporated the three things the show needs to remain strong: heart, guts, intuition.

When we left off last week, Pete and Myka were in Egypt and had solved the three challenges posed by the rising Warehouse 2. The two were betrayed by HG who stunned them and escaped.

As “Reset” began, it wasn’t too surprising to see that Myka was the most upset about Helena’s actions.  But as Pete says, being mad and all is fine, but it doesn’t exactly get them out of the currently collapsing Warehouse 2, does it?

Tonight’s Premiere Week TV Spotlight…Wednesday, September 22, 2010

September 22, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Tonight's TV Spotlight

For so many years Wednesday was kind of a lame night for TV.  Oh how times have changed!

Wednesdays on ABC rival NBC’s Thursday night comedy block. With the THE MIDDLE, MODERN FAMILY and COUGAR TOWN all airing new eps tonight, I’m a happy girl.

Once again there’s just too much TV on tonight (seriously wait until you see this list), so we’re going to have to discuss everyone’s watch, DVR and skip schedule. (It actually helps us to know which shows are our priorities.)

So let’s get to it.  The highlights from tonight’s TV lineup.

The Middle | 8pm on ABC | Season Premiere
“Back to School”
In the Season 2 premiere, Frankie has a hard time getting the kids ready for school, and she’s accused of being overprotective by Brick’s new teacher (Doris Roberts). Meanwhile, Sue may be too enthusiastic about being on the cross-country team. [GMMR: Welcome back Heck family. I know you’ve been missed by many.]

Survivor: Nicaragua | 8pm on CBS
“Fatigue Makes Cowards of Us All”
Tempers flare and fights erupt in the La Flor tribe as the younger castaways struggle to overcome potentially dangerous personality conflicts within the group. [GMMR: Sorry that we didn’t talk about last week’s SURVIVOR premiere.  We’re going to talk about it tonight. Anyone with me? Please…um, please?]

Undercovers | 8pm on NBC | Series Premiere
“Pilot”
Married former spies Steven and Samantha Bloom (Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw) reenter the world of espionage to track down a friend and fellow agent (Carter MacIntyre), who disappeared while on the trail of an arms dealer, in the series premiere. The pair find that their globe-spanning mission reignites their passion for the job and for each other. [GMMR: There are some great spy show on TV today, but I’m not sure this one is going to stand out against the rest. Time will tell.  Check out our “First Look – Undercovers” for more.] Read more

PARENTHOOD: No Good Deed

September 21, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Parenthood, Posts by Erik

Berkeley, California is a progressive town. With residents who embrace big ideas and even bigger housing prices, the liberal landmark is no stranger to rapid change. This week’s PARENTHOOD was a demonstration of the consequences of change for nuclear families, budding relationships, and small businesses alike. Each branch of the Braverman family tree had its strength tested, with mixed results.

I’ll have a full breakdown of the episode up Wednesday evening, including my thoughts on Adam & Sarah’s workplace dynamic, Crosby & Jasmine’s struggle to trust one another, and Julia’s breakdown of the social politics among five year olds. In the meantime, chime in with your thoughts on Episode 2 of the sophomore season from Berkeley’s most fascinating family.

Where do you stand on the Adam/Sarah disagreement? Whose point of view would you relate to most? How did you feel about the latest events in Crosby & Jasmine’s romance? Will they make it through? For our readers who have children of their own, what would you do if Noel Lessing was left on your doorstep?
