THE GOLDBERGS is back for its third season, and the comedy is kicking things off in style: with a tribute to RISKY BUSINESS.

“I was obsessed with RISKY BUSINESS growing up; it was just one of those movies that I loved,” THE GOLDBERGS creator Adam F. Goldberg shared. “And we touched upon it in another episode in a prior season, but I wanted to do a big blowout. This [themed episode] started with a love of a movie. And now that we have AJ Michalka (Lainey) [full-time] on the show, I saw an opportunity of Beverly having a new kid to parent. [Lainey’s] parents [are] going away for the weekend, and Beverly is like, ‘I’m going to fix your life in three days,’ basically. And Lainey’s never had any support, so she’s taken by it, but then realizes, no way, it’s time to throw a RISKY BUSINESS party. And it gets out of control, and Beverly has to save the day.”

Tonight’s third season premiere also marks the second year the show has been a part of ABC’s stable Wednesday night block of comedy. (THE GOLDBERGS aired on Tuesdays for its first season.) And with that solid ground, Goldberg noted his goal is to keep the show consistent.

FX has renewed SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL, the network announced.

“We are thrilled with SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL and it proved to one of the highest-rated new comedies on cable this year,” Eric Schrier, co-Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, said in a statement. “We thank [creator/star] Denis [Leary] and the rest of the cast, along with Jim Serpico and Tom Sellitti, for a terrific first season and look forward to indulging in more Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll in season two.”

“The only thing that could make me happier about this announcement is if David Bowie decided to be a guest star during season 2,” Leary added. “In which case, my head would explode. Hopefully on-camera so we get a kickass viral video out of it. Not to mention awesome Live+3s. I look forward to once again creating new episodes of television with John Landgraf’s exceptional FX team. And scoring some cool Bastard Executioner swag.”

With Jimmy Fallon going through several injuries this year,  it would make sense for him to think about who would take over for him in case something happened to him. Or, at least it would make a delightful EMPIRE sketch with Fallon as a Lucious Lyon-esque figure, who is trying to figure out who he should leave his comedy empire to.

EMPIRE stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard make cameos in the sketch, and Fallon’s ultimate decision for who should take control over his empire is, uh, something…
