Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

CHICAGO MED: Will. Oy. Boundaries! Learn them!

I do love the idea of Charles talking to more of the ED doctors as they struggle to get through this pandemic. It’s an interesting way to be safe during COVID, but also allow us to really get deeper into them.

(For more on what’s to come on CHICAGO MED, here’s what the EPs had to say.)

THE GOLDBERGS: Ahhh, the CLUE homage made my heart happy. And how lovely to see Erica fumble her way through a pre-med class, but perhaps find what she’s really right for: law. (And, really, arguing with Beverly has to be some kind of real-world experience for any kind of courtroom drama.)

THE MASKED DANCER: Man, I wish I was more invested. It’s fun to watch, but with SINGER, I’m drawn to the screen, wanting to find every clue. Here, I’m more apathetic despite really liking the regular panel. I’ll keep watching, but I do hope something clicks.

SEAL TEAM: Neil Brown Jr. was fantastic as Ray struggled to survive his capture. The season has felt a bit slower, but that’s not a bad thing—it’s digging deeper into what the characters are going through and letting us explore the trauma a little more. (It’s also weird how late so many of these shows started, so it feels like we should be 7-ish episodes into a season, where we’re really only a few in.)

CHICAGO FIRE: Okay, Severide, it’s a baaaaaad call to push Kidd away just because rumors are circulating about her moving up. Like, I get it, he’s in a tough spot: if he tells her the truth about the rumors, she’ll be—rightfully—hurt, because she’s busted her butt to get where she is. But pulling away is silly.

Same goes for Casey, who…by pulling away from Brett, thinks that will work out? Her fear is he cares for another woman (his ex-wife/her friend!) more than her.

(For more of what’s to come on CHICAGO FIRE, here’s what EP Derek Haas had to say.)

THE CONNERS: I feel like on a scale of 1-10, meeting your boyfriend’s mother and her almost immediately revealing that she’s been lying to him his whole life about his bio father is……………pretty bad!! (But Candice Bergen was a fun guest star.)

NAME THAT TUNE: Ohhhhhh, there were some bad mistakes last night. And, also, I’m kind of surprised the song titles don’t have to be exact? Like, a contestant correctly IDed Britney Spears’ “Crazy,” but the full title is “(You Drive Me) Crazy.” It feels like that could be a mess at some point.

CALL YOUR MOTHER: Uh, well…this was not exactly for me. The comparison I made was it felt like if COUGAR TOWN’s Jules had no real friend group*, no work, no life, and her sole focus was on Travis well after he graduated.

It also just doesn’t make sense that a mother that involved would have been that far from her kids?

*yes, Kyra’s character has a friend in Sherri Shepherd, but they’re now….phone friends?

CHICAGO P.D.: Oh, hello Upstead. About time! I figured there was no way Upton would be taking the FBI gig, but I didn’t think she would be the one to put it out there that she had feelings for Halstead; if anything, I thought it might clarify things for him and lead to his confession. (I get he was trying to be supportive.)

I was surprised by the Burzek story, though, because I expected their time with the young girl to bring them closer—and I thought Burgess would be taking the girl in. I’m curious to see how the show does eventually pursue Burgess’ maternal instinct.

(For more of what’s to come on CHICAGO P.D., here’s what EP Rick Eid had to say.)
