NEW AMSTERDAM: Ryan Eggold and Freema Agyeman Preview the Unconventional Season 3 Finale

NEW AMSTERDAM closes out its third season with an unconventional hour, “Death Begins in Radiology.”

“Structurally, it’s a different kind of episode, which is very cool in that pieces of the episode focus on different characters and are devoted entirely to that,” series star Ryan Eggold (who plays Max) told reporters in the video below. “So instead of our usual show where we’re having numerous storylines going along, back-to-back-to-back, we’re living with one character for a period of time in their world, in their struggles, and they have an arc. And then we go to another character, and we live just with that character for a period of time.”

“It’s really cool, because it’s like everybody gets a little mini-movie within the episode,” he continued. “It felt different shooting it, and I’ve heard that it came out different, in a great way; something new for our show. Which at the end of the third season, for any TV show, if you can find something new, that’s a great thing.”

For Sharpe (Freema Agyeman), “we get an opportunity to see a little bit about her past and her family,” Agyeman teased. “For a [a lot of this season], it’s been a lot about, rightfully, the state of the world, because there’s an awful lot to talk about. And in this episode, we kind of shift the narrative a bit and dive into a bit more about who these people are and where they come from or where they’re at in their life, at this moment in time, which is quite pivotal for all of them, actually.”
