Kelli Giddish is exiting LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, Give Me My Remote has learned. Her final episode will air during the upcoming season 24.

“I wanted to address the chatter I’ve seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on LAW & ORDER: SVU,” Giddish said in a statement. “Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life. I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the LAW & ORDER family for the last 12 years. There is simply no other character on TV like Rollins. She’s grown and changed, and I have as well. I started on this show when I was in my late 20s and I’m grateful I got to spend so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life.”

“I want to thank Dick Wolf, Mariska Hargitay, Warren Leight, Peter Jankowski, NBC, Universal Television, all of my co-stars, every single member on the crew and all the writers here for our incredible work together these last 12 years,” she continued. “I’m so excited to take all the things I have learned in my time on SVU and put them toward everything that’s next to come.”

Giddish first joined the series in 2011, in the aftermath of original series star Christopher Meloni’s exit. She has played Detective Amanda Rollins for nearly 250 episodes heading into the 2022-2023 season across SVU, CHICAGO P.D., and CHICAGO FIRE. (Giddish also guest-starred on SVU in 2007 as a different character.)

Season 24 is posing to be a year of change for the long-running drama. In addition to Giddish’s exit, David Graziano joined the series as the new showrunner, while Molly Burnett will recur as new detective Grace Muncy. The series—which stars Hargitay, Ice T, Peter Scanavino, and Octavio Pisano—will also be a part of a franchise-first three-show crossover for its Thursday, September 22 season premiere.

Update (11:53 AM PT): SVU executive producer Julie Martin tweeted her support of Giddish, writing, “Thank you to the beautiful, kind, smart and outrageously talented @KelliGiddish words can’t describe what a joy and a privilege it has been to be by your side, learning and growing with Amanda Rollins for the past eleven seasons. The road will bring us together again. XO”

She also tweeted to fans of Rollins and Carisi (Scanavino), #Rollisi will have a happy ending. Stay tuned.
