THE SIMPSONS, BIG BROTHER, BOB'S BURGERS

THE SIMPSONS: Marge feels an overwhelming dread of the empty nest in the “A Mid-Childhood Night’s Dream” episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Oct 8 (8:00-8:31 PM ET/PT) on FOX. THE SIMPSONS © 2023 by 20th Television.

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

THE SIMPSONS: I loved the episode, and writer Carolyn Omine’s Twitter thread about how it came to be made me love it even more. In our world, the kids are kids forever; I’ve been watching season 1 of the show, and the only thing that’s really changed about their childhood from ’89 to ’23 is the technology. (And, well, Homer’s parenting approach.) They’re forever kids.

But for Marge, who has put everything into her parenting, the time is fleeting. And Bart is at the age where, if he was a normal kid, things might start to change. It was a beautiful exploration of how a parent might process that.

BOB’S BURGERS: “Food, question mark” is going to be my review of all questionable food going forward, thank you, BOB’S BURGERS.

Man, poor Rudy. I just wanted to give the kid a hug.

BIG BROTHER: I do love that everyone was so baffled by Bowie Jane winning HoH. And, look, Bowie may be a better game player than I gave her credit for. Everyone tried to hard pitch her, and she called out—at least in the confessional—some of the BS being spewed her way.

Cory, however, once again feels way too comfortable with everything. Is Bowie Jane going to backdoor him? I’m sure she won’t. But that being said…like he mentioned, he was just called out at two meetings. He’s putting a lot of confidence in himself or America winning the next HoH. Or, at least, that they’ll be able to get Cam out/he won’t put them up.

Here’s the thing: Felicia talking about her experience with DV in the same episode she’s put up for elimination…is terrible timing. (And I truly hope the BB editors didn’t “save” that reveal and she actually did talk about it in the past few days.) That’s gutting context—and she’s brave as hell—and I wish it hadn’t come like this.

FAMILY GUY: Lois being that known at the supermarket? Haha.

Brian and Joe teaming up to write a true-crime story actually, weirdly, makes a lot of sense?! But of course things fell apart and they got lightly stalked by the true-crime hosting superstars.
