THE SIMPSONS, BOB'S BURGERS, BIG BROTHER

THE SIMPSONS: After Bart is turned into an NFT, Marge fights though the blockchain to rescue her son. To track down a gruesome serial killer, Lisa turns to a murderer from her past. An outbreak transforms Springfielders into a plague of lazy, beer-loving oafs in the “Treehouse of Horror XXXIV” episode of THE SIMPSONS airing Sunday, Nov 5 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

THE SIMPSONS: The “Treehouse of Horror” installments are some of my very favorites…but I’ll acknowledge I was a bit underwhelmed with this one. (And I think the show has been fantastic the past few years, so I’m not a “only classic SIMPSONS is good” person.)

Part of the issue is the pacing felt off; I liked the first installment the best, but it felt like it was a couple of minutes longer than the other two. (Installment 2, in particular, felt VERY rushed.) And, more importantly, so much of it felt like things we’ve seen before*. We’ve seen Lisa split before (in “Multiplisa-ty”); we’ve seen Homer clones (“Send in the Clones”). And while with a show this deep into its run, it makes sense there will be echoes and overlap, neither really felt like they had more to say. (Yes, you can argue this multi-Homer story was a COVID/pandemic world story, too, but they did a better homage to that last season, too.)

Alas!

*Yes, I’m a nerd. In what world is this news?

BOB’S BURGERS: Bob realizing he didn’t want his idea anymore because Jimmy and his customers liked it? Hahaha. A perfect twist.

FAMILY GUY: It is absolutely not the show’s fault, but Stewie being afraid to take a bath after a celebrity drowned in it…it’s a little too close to home to another recent death. (NOT saying the circumstances are the same.)

BIG BROTHER:
I truly debated not watching at all, but I saw tweets about Jag possibly backstabbing Matt and figured that would be terrible and interesting. It did not happen in the traditional sense. (He and Bowie did manipulate Matt into going on the block.) At this point, yeah, now I’m not sure I want to see any of them win, so this may be it for me this season. (We’ll see what happens later this week.)
