Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

QUANTUM LEAP: Raymond Lee was so, so good as Ben struggled with the reality of his new life. It’s a really delicate line to walk, because the character is truly unmoored—despite being the central focus of the show—and Ben breaking over this was really gorgeously done. (I know that sounds weird, but I mean it as a compliment.)

I have no clue WTF is going on with Hannah. My initial guesses were we’d find out later she was or becomes a leaper or she’d be a bad guy…but co-showrunner Martin Gero shut those theories down before I even had the chance to ask. It’s an odd thing about TV, though, because we know Taylor is coming back since she’s a series regular…if not, it would have just felt like a memorable encounter for Ben. But I’m so curious how she’s going to work into the show.

[For more on the episode, here’s what Gero and Dean Georgaris shared.]

CELEBRITY JEOPARDY: Wow, Steven Weber was great at this game. And, admittedly, I laughed a lot at “respond like a pirate.”

After seeing Katie Nolan absolutely botch the betting for Final Jeopardy last week, I’m glad Steven was smart about it. (And right now, he seems like the one to beat.)

THE MASKED SINGER: I don’t know what’s more shocking—Billie Jean King on the show or KEN BEING RIGHT AGAIN??! But, wow, King is a badass.

MAGNUM P.I.: Laughed at Katsumoto using his day off to go undercover. And, yes, the case was fun, but the Kumu subplot was the real highlight of the hour.

Sab Shimono (and Amy Hill) were absolutely gutwrenching in their scenes about the Japanese internment. It’s an important topic that shouldn’t be ignored or forgotten. The show is obviously fictional, and a fictional bittersweet resolution for the man who was hoping to find his long-missing sister, but I hope it inspired people who maybe were less aware of that horrible era to look into what was done.

CELEBRITY WHEEL OF FORTUNE: It, uh, started off…slow. And questionable. And Jared was so fast with getting the final round answer in game 1. It was…an interesting game.

But oh my God, “That Was Obvious” as the final round answer for game 2?!? Oh noooooooo. (Also, that’s a very hard puzzle! Short of guessing an “o,” you’re kind of screwed.)

THE $100,000 PYRAMID: Okay, the cynical part of me thinks if a family is competing, there could very easily be some…manipulation to maximize the potential money won. (Let one person win both rounds and split the potential $150k versus each person playing for $50k max.)
