About Last Night…NAME THAT TUNE, CELEBRITY JEOPARDY, and THE FLOOR

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

NAME THAT TUNE: Look, I like these celebs, but these games were painful. There needs to be some kind of vetting process besides “you are famous and want to be on this show,” because…eesh. Craig Ferguson was great during the actual competition, but struggled a lot in his final round. And on the flip side, Lisa Loeb struggled during her game (even though she easily beat Jesse McCartney), and then she did great in the final round. It just isn’t fun when most of the game feels like people struggling? Maybe the show needs a season-long break from celebs and just let the “regular” people play again.

CELEBRITY JEOPARDY: A decent game, albeit with some questionable rule-bending. (At least it was split among a few players just favoring one.) I am, however, embarrassed to admit I actually didn’t know the Final Jeopardy question…in my defense, 2021 was approximately 75 years ago—this is official math, yes—and I could not remember which THE CROWN actress would have been portraying the role that year.

THE FLOOR: This is an interesting game show premise, that I mostly enjoyed. It feels a little unfair people inherit categories if they win, but we’ll see how this plays out as the game continues on. (I do also appreciate there’s a prize each episode because if there was only a single winner all season long, that would be tough to be invested in.) And Rob Lowe is fun as a host; enjoying him more in this particular game show format than MENTAL SAMURAI. It’s a good sign I truly wanted to see the next episode when this one concluded.
