CELEBRITY NAME THAT TUNE, CELEBRITY JEOPARDY, and THE FLOOR

THE FLOOR: L-R: Contestant Mondo, Host Rob Lowe and Contestant Steve in the “Don’t Judge a Book by It’s Cover” episode of THE FLOOR airing Tuesday, Jan. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2023 FOX Media LLC. Cr: Lorraine O’Sullivan/FOX

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

CELEBRITY NAME THAT TUNE: I will say one positive element: NEXT LEVEL CHEF’s Richard Blais and Nyesha Arrington at least gave the impression in the first round they had heard music. Things, uh, fell apart after that. And, uh, is Richard getting a single answer right a record? Because…ouch.

Again, it remains an absolute disservice that most of these celebrities don’t seem to know music. Samantha Bee earned $1000!!!!!! That’s embarrassing!

CELEBRITY JEOPARDY: CHAOS. I have to appreciate Mo Rocca doing a true Daily Double and putting himself in the lead for Final Jeopardy…only for it to not matter because both he and Katie Nolan (who was in second place) didn’t know the answer and the delightful Lisa Ann Walter won it all. (As I said to a friend, it was very funny that both Lisa and Katie’s faces gave them away with whether they knew that final question, but Mo was an absolute blank slate. It did allow for a little bit of drama up until the final moment.) I’m so happy Lisa won, though! Was rooting for her tonight.

THE FLOOR: This was maybe the best episode of the show so far. The junk drawer category competition was insane. The idiom one was unexpectedly complex, because it wasn’t just knowing the answer, you had to read the clue fast. The head-to-head competition was great.

But, wow, I was also really moved by Stephanie and Steve? One of the interesting subplots of each episode is who ends up with the most space on the floor each night because of the prize money that can be won each week. And Steve opted to go for splitting the $20k prize with Stephanie (if he won his battle)…it was a lovely moment of humanity. (And, also, I’m so glad he won his battle, because it would have been awful if his gesture ended his time on the show.)
