FBI, THE VOICE, FBI: MOST WANTED

“Creating a Monster” – When a federal judge is gunned down execution-style in broad daylight, the team is sent looking for a suspect with ties to a local Islamic center. Also, Maggie reunites with a former colleague while things become tense between OA and his girlfriend Gemma in the aftermath of her friend’s death, on FBI, Tuesday, March 12 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

FBI: Okay, first of all, I loved seeing Zeeko Zaki and Elyes Gabel together. What a joy.

Their character interaction? Oh, yeah, a lot more heartbreaking and messy. I was worried Hassan would be more explicitly dirty, but…the situation still wasn’t good. OA tried to help him, tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the damage was done long before they got involved. (Hassan definitely shouldn’t have lied/withheld information, though.) Hassan getting into OA’s head at the end, though? Oh, Zaki was incredible as OA tried so clearly to not let the figurative punch land…and then when he talked to Maggie about how she describes him to others. I don’t know if her answer soothed any part of his hurt, especially since he didn’t specifically tell her why he asked, but I love their partnership.

I loved the ROOKIE BLUE reunion, but part of me wishes it had come in an episode where Charlotte Sullivan had been the bigger presence. But maybe they can bring her back at some point?

(Also, OA and Gemma are absolutely doomed.)

NIGHT COURT: The Wheelers were in a couple of two-parters back in the day, and they definitely squeezed multiple episodes worth of hardship into this installment. What a fun way to honor the show’s legacy; I hope they return.

THE VOICE: Oh, they saved some great contestants for the final episode of the Blinds…which is both good, in terms of an enjoyable hour, but also crazy that they very easily could have missed out on making the show altogether. All four of the final singers were among the best we’ve seen. This should be a fun season. (And John was correct he was going to be picky!)

Also, loved hearing John’s “Welcome to Team Legend” again…and some of the coaches being baffled by it. Guys, did you not watch the show before?! (Okay, okay, I’m sure they didn’t.)

FBI: INTERNATIONAL: Eek Powell. Buddy. No. He’s so lucky the Fly Team so thoroughly has his back—though Raines pulling out the scar on his leg as a “you need to be honest with me” card was so funny and the perfect card to play—and got him out of trouble. I’ll be very curious to see how his dynamic with them changes, if it does, going forward.

Also, uh, the timing of the case of the week…sure was something!

PASSWORD: I was “worried” (as much as you can be for a show like this) that Joe Manganiello was on because of the obvious network synergy and the game might fall flat. But…he’s one of the best players they’ve ever had?! Get him back on the show ASAP, please and thanks!

FBI: MOST WANTED: The. Organs. THE ORGANS. My GOD. Second episode in a row that reminded me of THE X-FILES, and, again, I mean this as a compliment. (I haven’t stopped thinking about those organs.)

I felt—and feel—absolutely awful for Barnes, though. I expected her wife would want to split given the clear tension in the first scene she seemed oblivious to, but there being someone else is both a gut punch and something that’s harder to fix. Roxy Sternberg was fantastic as she reeled

I do really appreciate how much the FBIs are working each other into the larger universe. INTERNATIONAL had Jubal physically in the episode—video calls can be very helpful when you’re in different countries—and MOST WANTED had Nina acknowledging her co-parenting with FBI’s Scola. It’s nice they’re prioritizing this, repeatedly.

[For more on the episode, here’s what Sternberg shared.]
