THE VOICE, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, DEAL OR NO DEAL ISLAND

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?: Contestants in the “Final Audition: Top 10” episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE? airing Monday, Mar 25 (9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. © 2024 Fox Media LLC. CR: Tom Griscom/FOX.

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

MASTERCHEF JUNIOR: Oh, I enjoyed Myles a lot, and it’s a shame he went home because of the bad steaks. (It makes sense, to be clear, but a shame.) I also have no clue how the Blue Team got so many votes?!

THE VOICE: Okay, John trying to steal people and getting blocked by the Playoff Pass makes me laugh. (Sorry to him.) He really did try with Madison, but, yeah, Dan+Shay weren’t going to let her go. (That was a great duet, though.)

If you were also curious about which Team Legend artists got married: An answer.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: It’s not fun to be constantly (or, at least, mostly) negative about the show, but this is a mess.

One of the things they hyped up about the season is that it would be a hybrid sort of show: exploring what the interpersonal relationships are as much as the dance competition element. We got the tiniest of glimpses of it during the auditions, but cutting so many of the dancers in a single day should have been when we dug into the drama; the heartbreak and the highest of highs. Instead, we barely even got to see the dancing. Am I happy about any of the top ten? I honestly don’t even know at this point. I feel so extremely detached from basically everyone.

Maybe it’ll feel like a better balance moving forward now that the top 10 was established. But if they didn’t intend or care to do this balance the whole way, in many ways, we would have been better served by just starting with the top 10 and giving us a more thorough audition/background package.

DEAL OR NO DEAL ISLAND: Wow, it feels like Aaron may had his entire game put at risk in this episode. Some of it was valid—having to trick two contestants into taking a key to guarantee his own safety—but him telling Rob he’d save someone over him is a long-term risk. It’s tipping his hand in a way he absolutely did not have to.

And, yeah, Aaron lucked out that Miranda took the deal and the $40k personal offer…who could blame her? So many people are going to walk away with nothing, and if you have no real allies…

Of course, she blew up his alliance and also revealed his real target, so Aaron might not be as forgiving of everything.
