AMERICAN IDOL – “715 (Judge’s Song Contest)” – The Top 8 perform one of three songs secretly selected by Luke, Katy and Lionel, who are each competing for most songs chosen. America votes live for the Top 6, and the judges make a save for the Top 7; plus, a special tribute to Idol alum Mandisa. MONDAY, APRIL 29 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Eric McCandless)

Let’s talk Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: Anthony Ramos auditioned for the show? And sang a John Legend song?! That’s crazy.

I’m blown away by the talent on the show and there’s a case to be made for everyone, but, man, the two eliminated Team Reba people were my favorites on her squad. Alas.

MASTERCHEF JUNIOR: Michael making his own pasta was incredible. And, ugh, poor Asher and poor Jordyn—I hate it (for their sake) when the bottom chefs are there because they messed up the cook versus just personal preference or small details. (Was I the only one who thought Asher would be eliminated?)

AMERICAN IDOL: Second night in a row where America has gotten the voting wrong. McKenna shouldn’t have been in the bottom 2/in the position for Katy Perry to save her. (I’m glad she did, but yikes.) Kaibrienne was also the wrong person to go home. Sigh.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Honestly, most days it just makes me sad when I watch this show. I think the hybrid idea could have been really, really interesting/well-executed. If this show—somehow—survives to next season, and this is the format they continue to use, can we please A) cut the traditional audition episodes and spend more time showcasing who the top 10 actually are and B) I don’t know, show more dancing?! So frequently it has felt like we’re getting brief glimpses (interspersed between judge reaction shots and questionable directing) of the actual dancing. I’m sticking with it, but…I’m not invested.

DEAL OR NO DEAL ISLAND: It’s infuriating Stephanie was so blatant with her lies and destroyed the Aron and Rob alliance. Rooting for Jordan or Rob to win it all, because if Stephanie somehow takes this all…
