MASTERCHEF JUNIOR, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, DEAL OR NO DEAL ISLAND

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Dancers in the “Brand Challenge” episode of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE airing Monday, May 13 (9:02-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. © 2024 Fox Media LLC. CR: Tom Griscom/FOX.

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

MASTERCHEF JUNIOR: Flambé?! And no one messed it up?! I honestly remain absolutely baffled by how mature and elevated these young chefs are. I have no clue who is going to win—and anything can fall apart in the final rounds of the finale—but wow to them all.

THE VOICE: How do you pick?! I don’t vote for the show because of my coverage, but I truly don’t know how fans will pick their favorite singer(s) this week.

I think the IF tie-in was a little loose and cheesy, but I always love when we get trios and duos in non-competition settings.

[For more from the Top 9, here’s what they had to share.]

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: I understand this is trying to replicate real dancer situations, why were they doing the rain as a practical stunt if it was causing issues for even the non-injured dancers?! (Loved seeing Witney Carson, though, even if most of the episode felt like product placement.)

I still wish I cared a bit more. I wish the entire thing felt less manipulated and manipulative. I think the docuseries element was a really smart edition/twist, but I do also wonder what impact, if any, it’s having on who goes forward. (Like, not to be a cynic, but the three people with the “best” storylines moved forward…)

DEAL OR NO DEAL ISLAND: Okay, I was absolutely joking when I made the comment about Howie being The Banker last week—I laughed so hard when that was actually revealed. And having him there to make “his” offers was a fun finale dynamic.

I felt bad for Rob that he got immediately eliminated—more so because Amy had promised to play with him and then immediately stabbed him in the back–but so truly glad Jordan was the contestant who won it all. I was so stressed for her when she turned down the first million-dollar-plus offer. I’m so glad she took the second…what a legacy to take the highest franchise offer ever. And now she is pregnant! A lovely finale for her, all around.
