Fox at TCA: Kevin Reilly on the Future of BONES, ALMOST HUMAN, ENLISTED, and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE

After Fox boss Kevin Reilly held his Press Tour exec session, he talked with reporters about a few issues that weren’t covered in the panel in depth…

ENLISTED: When Reilly was questioned about whether ENLISTED would get a Tuesday tryout (specifically paired with BROOKLYN NINE-NINE), he said that wasn’t in the cards.

“Not in this season,” he said. “I’m going to play 13 there…[but] the show’s running well, it’s a funny show.”

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE: The show nabbed two Globes last night with a best comedy and best comedy actor win, but Reilly says that won’t be what pushes him to eventually renew it.

“Well, I was tempted [to renew it] before we got the Globes [wins],” he laughed. “Look, I don’t think that’s going to be a big [surprise] announcement…I would anticipate that show will be back.”

ALMOST HUMAN: Given that the show has been airing considerably out of order, I asked Reilly how he felt about the show and its future.

“Really good,” he said. “That’s another crazy delivery pattern situation [like SLEEPY HOLLOW has had] and holidays and sports interruptions, and it’s been challenging. But I think the show is in a pretty good groove right now, and I really love our leads. I think there’s a show there, and I look at the cume [viewings] on the DVR, and it’s encouraging. So that’s going to be an interesting discussion [about its future].”

BONES: Since Reilly noted they are currently in negotiations for BONES season 10 — and BONES creator Hart Hanson had mentioned if it lived beyond that, things would have to drastically change —  I asked Reilly whether Fox was looking at these negotiations as a deal for the end of the show.

“I would anticipate that would be the final season,” he confirmed about a potential season 10.

    Thank you, Marisa!

Good to hear that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be back! But he really dodged your question about Fox’s role in Almost Human situation, right? Sleepy Hollow didn’t have to deal with executives messing up the order of the episodes! Hope Almost Human gets a second season, though I’m not feeling confident about it.

But thank you so much for this! You rock! 🙂

    Marisa,
We need to keep an eye on Mr. Reilly because, as you know, he killed Crossing Jordan unnecessarily when he was in charge on NBC.

I really do not trust him. Almost Human is a unique show, and all of us fans need to stick together and make a lot of noise in social media to help AH get another season. If you are a fan reading this, contact Almost Human’s sponsors 1 by 1, and tell them how much you enjoy the show. It DOES make a difference!

It might be the year for an AH letter writing campaign to Mr. Reilly. Fringies know how much he enjoys those.
