SNL Brings the LIVE Back to Saturday Night

February 13, 2008 by

SNL Brings the LIVE Back to Saturday NightEarly November is the last time we saw a new episodes of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. But with the writers strike over, the cast and writers are heading back to work. The first new post-strike episode will be on February 23rd and the guest host will be none other than 30 ROCK star, Tina Fey. As you probably know, Tina was a head writer and cast member on SNL for many years. It’s going to be great to see her hold her own with hosting duties.

According to the NY Times, JUNO star Ellen Page will be the guest host for SNL’s show on March 1st.

No word yet on who the musical guests will be.

Which celebrities, who haven’t yet hosted, would you like to see take over the reigns on SNL this season?

I’m going to give my vote to Michael Cera. From what I read he did a fantastic job as host for the live SNL show to support the strike, but he’s never hosted on air. Obviously John Krasinski is my second choice, and I thought for sure he would be a shoo in to host in April close to the premiere of LEATHERHEADS, but now with the new OFFICE post-strike schedule, I’m not sure he can take a week off to prep. Fingers crossed. And if there is a God, we will finally…finally see Will Arnett hosting this season. Can’t Amy Poehler pull some strings for her husband?

Can’t wait to see Tina as the host of SNL! Great choice for their first show back. I agree with all of GMMR’s choices – I’d also like to see Ed Helms host sometime, or for that member any other cast member of The Office! I think it might also be interesting to see someone like Katherine Heigel host – she’s not a comedian but I can see her doing comedy – if Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or any of those other athletes who have hosted can do it, I’m sure she would be able to adapt to the kind of show SNL is.

I vote for Stephen Colbert, totally!

I was soo excited last night to see Tina was going to host (I hope she gets to do a Weekend Update bit and is able to juggle 30 Rock coming back into production and hosting duties) and am interested at how Ellen Page will do-just a few days after the Oscars no less.

I agree with GMMR on Michael and John. Anyone from the Office would be golden in my book. And fellaface, I hope Jonah gets a shot at hosting, too! I was really looking forward to him hosting. Otherwise, I don’t really have anyone else, except anyone from 30 Rock, too. I don’t mind cross promotion.

    Tina Fey!!! I’m so excited!

And I definately agree with Will Arnett! He would do amazing in sketches. And if it really is Amy’s last year, they should definately let them do it together!

Other than that I’d like to see John K, Michael Cera, a maybe Alec Baldwin on to break the record for the season finale.

    TINA FEY!!!!

ok…Drew Barrymore, Alec Baldwin and Justin Timberlake always bring the funny to SNL.

I’d love to see Angela Kinsey because of her improv background, Lee Pace, Kate Walsh, Kristen Bell…

Hooray! The Writer’s Strike is over! Halle–juhah.

    I can’t believe it!

I think that they should let little brother Eli host it.

For god sakes, let the little guy take the stage.

Peyton had his chance….Let Eli have his turn.

Other hosts I would like to see.

Barack Obama. Brenden Fraser. Carrie Underwood as a host…

Melissa Joan Hart. And, how about, Amy Adams?
