GLEE Cast Performs at The White House (Video)

April 5, 2010 by

Earlier today the cast of GLEE performed at The White House as part of their traditional Easter Egg Roll. The cast sang a number of tunes to the delighted crowd. I was really impressed by how great they sounded live. Be sure to watch them all, you don’t want to stop before you get to mark Salling and Matthew Morrison singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Le Sigh.

Makes me even more excited to see them in concert next month in NYC!

SMALLVILLE: Escape

April 5, 2010 by

Hey Smallville peeps! Long time no talk. At least we scored another season of Smallville and got some great news with guest appearances while the show was on hiatus. Can you believe were looking at Season 10! Hopefully they stay up in the ratings what with Tom Welling working on his new series Hellcats. And does anyone know for sure if Chloe is coming back for the possible last season?! Now let’s get to Smallville’s Escape.

This latest episode was all about coupledom, cold feet and the Silver Banshee. Away for a romantic weekend, Clark and Lois hit the McDougal Inn for some serious relationship time only to run into the Oliver and Chloe. Surprising? I thought so. Lets just say I didn’t expect the writers to carry the Oliver/Chloe relationship this far along. But after this episode it looks like things are changing.

I am glad to see Chloe move forward since the whole Jimmy thing but I have a feeling some serious issues are going to arise between the new couple (that according to Chloe) is not a couple at all. Oliver’s former relationship with Lois has to come up at some point again. Even if Lois does say she approves of Smallville’s newest couple after ranting and raving to Clark.

SUPERNATURAL: Dark Side of the Moon

“You gotta stop thinking of heaven as one place…it’s more like a butt load of places all crammed together. Like Disneyland, except without all the anti-Semitism.” – Ash; dead barkeep, angel whisperer, scientist, top snake handler.

Well, first let me briefly address last week’s episode, “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid”, by saying that I was a big fan. It’s been well established by now that I love zombie movies, and so you can imagine how much I loved Sam and Dean fighting a town full of ‘em, complete with creepy dad-eating child zombie. Ew. On the flip side of all the fun shoot-em-up action was a very touching and heartbreaking story of Bobby being reunited with his (undead) wife. I was very happy with the way the show handled that arc, because I really didn’t want to see Bobby’s wife trying to kill him or doing gross zombie things, because I didn’t want Bobby to have to deal with that after everything he’s been through. You knew from the start that he was going to have to kill her by episode’s end, but the way it was done was very respectful, and honored the relationship that they had before he had to kill her the first time (after she was possessed). Let me just also add that Jim Beaver is fantastic. After everything he’s been through in real life, which you can read about in his book Life’s That Way, for him to take on this story could not have been easy and he was great.

SURVIVOR: Say it Ain’t So…Noooo!

Jeff & Jordan are Philiminated on THE AMAZING RACE. And in a year when I decided to give SURVIVOR another shot, my favorite player, Boston Rob, was sent packing during last night’s tribal council. Check out Steve Carell take over for the local weatherman during a U.K. promotion of his upcoming film “Date Night”.

I wouldn’t mind seeing an episode of THE OFFICE where Steve Carell just gets to make it up as he goes along.  It’s got to be better than “Date Mike”.  The guy is hilarious.

FRINGE: Peter

Who would have thought that an episode entitled “Peter” would be possible without a single moment of Joshua Jackson? More to the point, who would have thought that I could enjoy a Josh Jackson-less episode so much? I see “Peter” as being the origin episode of FRINGE. Even though it presented us with a series of new things to ponder, it more than made up for it by answering some key questions that are central to the show.

Big Hair, Big Answers

It seems that Olivia has kept Peter’s secret to herself, at least for the time being. Walter comes to her place, bearing a package and an explanation. As he flashes back to 1985, the big hair and the big revelations begin. What we learned:

Walter vs. Walternate

Back in the days when Walter and William Bell worked for the U.S. Army, they had developed a window to the other world. It enabled them to see at any given location, what was happening in the exact same location in the alternate reality. In addition, although they had kept it a secret from the government, they had been working on a device to open a portal between worlds.

Peter was suffering from a terminal illness and Walter was spending all of his time in the lab trying to find a cure, just as Walternate was doing over there. Walter was using the window to watch Walternate because the technology on the other side is more advanced and Walternate was more likely to be able to develop a cure than Walter was. Unfortunately, the young Peter of this world died before a cure could be discovered, setting off an important chain of events.

BONES: The Bones on the Blue Line

Hey BONES fans! Thursdays just haven’t been the same without you, but we did it. We survived the two month BONES hiatus. I hope you liked this episode, because I did. I think it has somewhat of a misfortune of being stuck in the position of being our first ep back AND the ep that precedes the 100th; those are tough shoes to fill. Then again, we BONES fans are loyal and able to judge an episode based on itself, and I think when it comes down to it, this episode will always have a very special place in my heart.

But let me backtrack a bit.
