Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

THE FLASH: To be clear, this was never intended to be a finale. I get that. And in some ways, it actually did work as a finale, with Joe returning home, Iris disappearing, and Sue now wanted for murder. It certainly gives the show some fun things to play with whenever production is allowed to resume. But, man, I wish they had managed to tie up the Mirrorverse.

GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK: It is absolutely heartbreaking that so much was done…and now the town is basically shut down again thanks to the global pandemic. I hope the Ravens do run the billboard they committed to run whenever the NFL season does eventually start up, and whatever boost the town would have gotten still remains.

THE VOICE: The cut was brutal, but what I’ve struggled with in recent seasons—and this year was particularly harsh—is that the longer runs of live shows really did give a chance to get to know the contestants. We’d see their range, we’d see how they could handle theme weeks, see how they’d handle multiple songs. With this? There were a few contestants where I was like, huh, I vaguely recall you, but despite watching every single moment of the show, could not name one memorable performance. And that’s not due to lack of talent! But it’s also hard, because right now nothing makes sense.

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: It was a cute episode, though it was also the first time I actively missed Ray; I wondered how he would have handled Nate rushing a frat and how much fun they would have had together.

HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT: Given how physical the show often is, I was curious how it would really work remotely. But it actually worked surprisingly well? I’m not sure how sustainable it would be for an entire season—part of the premise is “normal” people are involved, and trying to juggle an extra two contestants would be hard—but if they did a celeb-focused charity season, it could be a fun way to keep originals on the air during the current production shut down.
