THE VOICE, FBI, BIG SKY

“Liar’s Poker” – When the leader of a drug cartel and one of the world’s most wanted men, Antonio Vargas (guest star David Zayas), is apprehended by the team, the entire FBI headquarters is put at risk when his henchmen unveil a terroristic threat to free him. During the turmoil, Isobel must make the difficult decision whether to sacrifice her conscience or her career, on FBI, Tuesday, Dec. 8 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: I didn’t think I had real favorites, but, apparently, I did. Really bummed, particularly, that Cami and Tamara didn’t make it to the finals.

FBI: Wow, that may have been my favorite episode of the series? The cast was excellent, the tension—even with the awareness the bomb wouldn’t actually explode—was real, and it set up the potential for Vargas to be a big player on the show and/or FBI: MOST WANTED.

It’s funny, because I was thinking yesterday morning how weird it was more shows weren’t doing bottle episodes, especially right now, as things are more complicated with going outside. This wasn’t exactly that, but they utilized a relatively few sets and it worked well.

TRANSPLANT: I really, really enjoyed this show. I have no clue if NBC will pick up more—a season 2 will air in Canada at some point—but this was a really solid season of TV. I do hope they find a way to bring it to the States in the future, even if it’s a summer run.

FBI: MOST WANTED: Amy Carlson was fun on the show! And I’m glad Jess had it out with his dad. There’s a lot of damage there, and them both being honest could put them on the road to a real recovery. (Though, it’s TV, so the odds of Byron screwing over his son are probably higher than most.)

BIG SKY: So, this show is just going to be gross, huh?

I’m really curious how the extra episodes change the framework for this season. In theory, it’s a third arc for the season, but part of what’s really working now is that it feels like things can change at any moment. It felt like Cassie and Jenny could be on the verge of finding the girls, Rick could be about to kill his wife. Hopefully the extra episodes don’t dilute that tension.
