DON'T FORGET THE LYRICS, BEAT SHAZAM, and CLAIM TO FAME

CLAIM TO FAME – “The Domfather Part II” – As the contestants catch on to Dominique’s influence throughout the house, some develop their own counterstrategies. This week’s challenge has everyone divided into teams for an elaborate game of telephone, putting their memorization and communication skills to the test. Tensions build over who will be named The Guesser, with the final guess surprising everyone on an all-new episode of “Claim to Fame,” airing MONDAY, AUG. 8 (10:01-11:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/John Fleenor)
KEVIN JONAS

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

DON’T FORGET THE LYRICS: Man, this was a rough episode. I didn’t think Stephanie had the right lyrics, but I didn’t get which portion of the “What I Like About You” lyric was incorrect. But, still, mess. And sad that she and her friend did that song at karaoke and both of them had been mis-singing it for years. Whoops.

But, also, Marcus, yikes. I don’t blame him, I likely would have chosen “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” too, but that song is a lot more wordy (and, uh, suggestive) than I ever realized. A bummer when a contestant leaves with nothing.

BEAT SHAZAM: I’m sorry, with Carol…how do you not root for her? She and Marlene were a great team, but the backstory of Carol losing her son (and getting to tell Jamie Foxx how much he loved Spider-Man) was heartbreaking.

I don’t blame the duo for playing it safe with a final category as broad as “Love Songs”…but, man, it has to eat at you a little to know it instantly. But still, I’m glad they walked away with $110k to split.

CLAIM TO FAME: Logan…is a genius?!

To be clear, I thought he was wrong with the leap he made, and I was worried about how Dom was going to react next week when they took their shot and she wasn’t Al Sharpton’s daughter. But, NOPE, he was right, he got it from the wall. Holy moly. (Though, in theory, him being the one to stab her in the back/figure it out shouldn’t hurt his game long-term? Unless the eliminated contestants are brought back, it’s just a couple of minutes of awkwardness.)

But in some ways, I also wonder if this puts a target on Logan’s back? Dom was a huge threat to the house and was running the game. Now, with her gone, of the 7 people, Logan seems to know the most/be the most well-rounded with his guesses? And, at least in what we’ve seen, he’s among the most well-hidden right now.

(Also, I would have been terrible at the telephone game. It’s one thing if you could plan on just memorizing the final word, but in game 2, it was middle words. It was tough!!)

This show is fun.
