SUPERNATURAL star Jensen Ackles stepped behind the camera for the Thursday, November 7 episode, but the occasion was a bit bittersweet—it was his final time directing the series he’s worked on for 15 seasons. (“Atomic Monsters” marks his sixth occasion behind the camera.)
“I’m just grateful for the opportunities that come my way,” Ackles says in the video below. “When I first directed it wasn’t because I had negotiated it in my contract or because I demanded it…I literally went to them and I was like, ‘You’ve seen my interest. You’ve mentioned that this is something that you thought I could do…I would only do this if you had the confidence in me to do it, and you trusted me enough to do it. If you do, I will do everything I can to make it a great episode. If you don’t, I completely understand it’s a very difficult task.’ And they were like, ‘No, no, you get an episode.'”

After all, the way it wraps up has already been plotted (and run by original series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki). But the writers are leaving room for the actors to weigh in on some things along the way. Read more

Zoinks! SUPERNATURAL is crossing over with SCOOBY-DOO in the March 29 episode of The CW series.
“Scoobynatural” had its world premiere at Tuesday’s PaleyFest, and fans weren’t the only ones watching the hour for the first time—series stars Jared Padalecki (Sam), Jensen Ackles (Dean), Misha Collins (Castiel), and Alexander Calvert (Jack) also saw the finished product.
The installment was a long-time in the making, with Padalecki, Ackles, and Collins recording their part of the episode over a year ago. “The three of us got in the booth together,” Ackles recalled during the PaleyFest panel. “There were a lot of cameras, so you’ll see it in the special features [on the DVD].”
SUPERNATURAL: Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki on the Darkness, Unlikely Partnerships, and More

With Darkness (and Amara) loose in the world, the Winchester brothers are in for quite the fight on SUPERNATURAL. But for the first time in seasons, the duo is actually working in tandem from the start.
“They’re essentially not inflicted with anything, they’re both intact; granted they’re scarred and bruised from a life of hunting and fighting,” Jensen Ackles (Dean) told reporters in the video below. “But they’re not fighting for each other anymore, they’re fighting a common target.”
“They’re fighting alongside each other,” Jared Padalecki (Sam) added.
“They’re fighting alongside each other, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen that,” Ackles continued. “I’m really excited about that dynamic, back together. That unit that’s back together, as opposed to previous seasons when Dean had the mark, and Sam was doing things behind his back…having those motivations over the past several seasons, and now having that gone…it’s two brothers in a car, driving down a highway, with a common goal and common purpose.”

Students returned to school over the past few weeks, but odds are good they didn’t get a welcome as cool as the one SUPERNATURAL stars Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) had for their new lot mates.
While a good number of shows currently film in Vancouver, SUPERNATURAL has been the only television show to regularly shoot at its studio for the past decade — but that changed with this current season.
To welcome the casts of CW’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and Fox’s LUCIFER to the studio, Ackles and Padalecki had a hilarious “Welcome Freshman Class” banner made, and posed this week with the new kids on the block.

We’re just one day away from SUPERNATURAL’s 200th episode, and the hour — which SUPERNATURAL showrunner Jeremy Carver called “a love letter to the fans” — is one of the most meta-filled installments of the series.

SUPERNATURAL star Jensen Ackles returns behind the camera to direct Tuesday night’s episode, “Soul Survivor,” but the hour is also a big one for his character, Dean, as Sam’s fight to remove the demon from his brother amps up. And, naturally, things don’t go totally as planned, so, as Ackles teases in the video below, “things get a little messy.”
Check out what else Ackles previewed about the hour…
