On the Sunday, April 17 episode of TRANSPLANT, “Liberty,” the treatment of a patient becomes complicated for an unexpected reason—the cops want his DNA.

“You do realize this is gangland retribution?” Anna Looex (Victoria Sanchez) tells Bishop (John Hannah) and Bash (Hamza Haq) in the exclusive clip below. “There are two actually innocent bystanders at St. Luke’s because of the choices a suspect you’re protecting made in life.”

“We’re treating a patient,” Bash argues. “How he got shot has nothing to do with our duty of care.”

“Dylan’s known associates are responsible for a house party shooting where three people died last month,” Looex counters. “Witnesses put him there, too, but his DNA could tie him to it.”

But without a warrant, the doctors refuse. “We have our protocol, you have yours,” Bishop says. “You want his blood, show us you have a legal right to it.”
