STARS ON MARS, CLAIM TO FAME, WEAKEST LINK

STARS ON MARS: L-R: Tinashe and Ariel Winter on the “Leaks In The Hab” episode of STARS ON MARS airing, Monday, July 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. CR: Brook Rushton/FOX. ©2023 FOX Media LLC.

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

STARS ON MARS: Look, with reality shows, there’s always a question of how/why something was edited the way it was, but as it stands, there were some deeply sexist comments towards Ariel’s potential leadership, especially from Paul Pierce who was comparing her frustration with Lance’s “calm” fighting. Dude, you just got here? Sigh.

(I was worried they were going to sabotage her tenure as a leader, too. I’m glad that at least didn’t come into play.)

CLAIM TO FAME: The editing on this was fascinating, because I couldn’t tell if they were giving us the Jeff Gordon clues because they were about to reveal the link—a la last week with the Dolly Parton situation—or if it was a red herring. And then they revealed that Gabriel’s relative was on Nick with Kenan and Kel, and it felt like THAT was a big clue. But, alas, it was Shayne that got backstabbed, which was foreshadowed when she mentioned trusting Cole in the voting booth.

I know the housemates are mad at him, but it’s easy to judge when you’re not in that hot seat and when the only real insight was coming from people who helped manipulate someone else out of the game the previous week. If Shayne had been safe, yeah, you kind of have to take the Karsyn guess and hope she’s that smart that she manipulated everyone/she was tied to Jeff Gordon. But…

(Also, Hugo’s clue was very, very obvious. And I’m glad he is the grandson of that president, because I was worried it might have been a more recent one.)

CRIME SCENE KITCHEN: I’m glad the classically trained bakers got a savory bake twist, too. (Mmm, pot pies.)

That flower/cutout cake, though! And my God, the panic when two of the groups realized they were supposed to have made a strawberry cake and had misread the clues…absolute mess.

WEAKEST LINK: As someone who does not know the WWE beyond the people who have crossed over to more widespread fame, this was fun. Not sure it made for the best game to have people so closely aligned—a team and then a romantic couple were of course going to have each others’ backs—but it was enjoyable to actually watch.
