About Last Night…THE VOICE, LOTERIA LOCA, and THE IRRATIONAL

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: About once a week I get really mad that SONGLAND was canceled, and I would like to thank THE VOICE for giving me the opportunity to be mad earlier than normal with the reminder that CORii was on the late, great NBC series. (I do not blame them, they share a showrunner.)

As it was, yeah, Monét and CORii had the best battle and I’m glad they’re both staying.

Not digging the “two steals, but no saves” element this season. As it is, the coaches know what they’re seeing in rehearsals, know what their singers are capable of, know who may be worth keeping around and utilizing the save. Steal is good/fun, but a gamble? We’ll see how this shakes out.

LOTERIA LOCA: Laughed out loud when Billy didn’t realize Jaime was joking with Sheila E. about Prince. I’m really glad Billy left with $130k, though, and especially glad given that his next choice would have landed him on a skull card.

THE IRRATIONAL: Is it weird I found this episode to be a lot of fun? Cheating at poker and trying to get to the bottom of it! The team works together so well and it was fun to see them in a quasi-lighter situation. Also, figuring out who was behind the cheating based on who was drinking their drink fast?! Breaking my brain a little bit.

It was nice to see Phoebe reuniting with Camille, though part of me does wish that element came a couple of episodes deeper into the run. The ensemble works together really well, but it’s still a new show and we’re still getting to know “our” people.
