Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: FANTASY LEAGUE: In case you’re wondering which act impressed me the most, in my notes I literally wrote “HOW THE F—?” (uh, uncensored) with Anna Deguzman’s performance.

On paper, it’s kind of terrible three magic acts were in this one episode. Like, I get we shouldn’t want every single magic act to go through, but this was brutal. But, man, I’m so glad Deguzman made it through. She’s absolutely unreal.

It was interesting to see how hard Simon Cowell had to fight to get “Purple Rain” for Sainted. They sounded incredible, but it was such a gamble—had it not come through, they would have had to do a backup song?! And how do you spend your rehearsal time knowing it could all fall apart? How extensive was that other song’s rehearsal? (And will they sing it next time they perform?) But I’m glad it had a happy ending.

On the flip side, it’s insane the show wasn’t able to get paperwork done for Musa Motha to perform in the US. It’s also very lucky he made it through, because sometimes that lack of in-person connection can be make or break for an audience vote. (And will he be there next round?!)

All things considered, I feel like the right acts moved on, at least. Certainly not the case every week.
