Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: FANTASY LEAGUE: It felt like the competition definitely ended strong, and I genuinely have no clue which way this is going to go.

It’s an interesting thing to witness, because Billy & Emily England were incredible, but it’s also crazy she was losing so much hair the actual act was in jeopardy. This isn’t competing as clearly for a long-term show, but if your act is limited in that way….what does that mean for the future?

And Sainted was an absolutely unforgettable final act. Was it enough? Again, I don’t know. But…wow.

I’m fascinated by an act like the Ramadhani Brothers, though, who are wildly impressive, but not necessarily visually engaging. Balancing on someone else’s head is one of the most difficult acts of the finale, hands down. But can it compete with the other physical acts in terms of showmanship? I don’t think so. I don’t know how you reconcile that.

Next week’s finale should be interesting.

THE IRRATIONAL: This was one of the best episodes of the series thus far, as Alec had to spend much of the hour stuck with Wes—the man technically responsible for the church bombing. (Even if it was not his choice.)

Jesse L. Martin and Ben Cotton were fantastic as Alec tried to assess the situation and Wes’ desperation escalated. It was tense, it was heartbreaking, it was nerve-wracking. Yeah, Alec wasn’t going to die, but one of the worst outcomes possible did happen—Wes died. After sacrificing so much of his life to protect his daughter, he didn’t even get to fully reconcile with her before he made one last choice to save her life.

Of course it wasn’t the only possible real loss: Jace was attacked and poor Marisa, who had just started making room for him in her life, found him. Fingers crossed he pulls through, but…

(Also, really loved the sweet Phoebe and Rizwan subplot, as he tried to help her through a panic attack.)
