The New DANCING WITH THE STARS Cast Revealed

Dancing with the Stars

Yikes, despite its ratings success, DANCING WITH THE STARS still seems to be scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to recruiting “stars”. The latest cast was announced on Monday night and it included a few people that I’ve never even heard of. I won’t be watching, but here are those who will be dancing during the next season.

  • ADAM CAROLLA
  • CRISTIÁN DE LA FUENTE
  • SHANNON ELIZABETH
  • STEVE GUTTENBERG
  • MARIO
  • MARLEE MATLIN
  • PENN JILLETTE
  • PRISCILLA PRESLEY
  • MONICA SELES
  • JASON TAYLOR
  • MARISSA JARET WINOKUR
  • KRISTI YAMAGUCHI

My favorites on the list don’t really have much of a shot at winning. But I gotta tell ya, I’m all behind Adam Carolla staying on as long as possible, if for no other reason than it’s going to make for some funny moments on his pal Jimmy Kimmel’s show. I’m also rooting for the Gutte…because I don’t want to live in a world where people don’t root for the Gutte. And I’m going to give a nod to Marissa Jaret Winokur who will be out there dancing it up for all the big girls…holla Marissa.

Do you have any early predictions or favorites? Will you be watching DANCING WITH THE STARS this season?

If you don’t know who some of this year’s contestants are, don’t fret…check out their full bios after the jump.

Because I had today off from work, I keep forgetting that it’s Monday, and with Monday comes Monday night television. Tonight it’s all about PRISON BREAK for me. We know tonight is the season finale but will it also be the series finale? PRISON BREAK certainly has lost its magic this season but I’m not ready to say goodbye to Wentworth Miller or Amuary Nolasco.

Here’s a taste of what’s on tonight. What will YOU be watching?

Prison Break | 8pm on Fox
“The Art of the Deal”
Michael and Linc make their way to Panama City and their date with Susan B., but Whistler isn’t with them. Meanwhile, Mahone waits for an appointment at a Panama City cantina.

Kyle XY | 8pm on ABC Family
Kyle XY“First Cut is the Deepest”
Kyle tries to make up for neglecting Jessi by taking her to the University of Washington to learn more about her mother, but what they find makes Kyle more worried about Jessi than ever.

Welcome to the Captain | 8:30pm on CBS
Welcome to the Captain“The Letter”
Josh invites Hope to dinner and tries to plan the perfect evening with a little help (and some bad advice) from Uncle Saul and Jesus. Joey Fatone has a cameo.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles | 9pm on Fox
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles“Dungeons & Dragons”
The stranger (Brian Austin Green) struggles to remember life in the future. Meanwhile, Sarah tries to explain to Charley why she had to leave him. Charley Dixon: Dean Winters.

The New Adventures of Old Christine | 9:30pm on CBS
The New Adventures of Old Christine“Popular”
Christine is accused of being a “meanie mom” by a new dad at Ritchie’s school. (Note: Raise your hand if you’re watching this show? I’ve only ever seen it on airplanes and each time I’ve really enjoyed it. But for some reason I can’t get myself to ever sit down and watch it. Probably my loss.)

Medium | 10pm on NBC
Medium, NBC “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
Patricia Arquette’s real-life brother David Arquette directed this episode, which revolves around the kidnapping of a deaf girl. Allison herself is rendered deaf, as she gets an assist from Joe and PI Cynthia Keener (Anjelica Huston) in the case.

October Road | 10pm on ABC
October Road What to Watch“Hat? No Hat?”
Nick learns that he’s broke, and Hannah deals with her mother while preparing for her wedding. Meanwhile, Owen goes out with Jenny, the beer-delivery girl that saved his life. Ellen Daniels: Frances Fisher.

Paradise Hotel 2 | 9pm on My TV
Paradise Hotel 2“The First News Guest”
The first new guest checks in and is greeted with a wild welcoming party. Before long, a new love interest develops…shocker!  Ha ha.  Trash TV at its finest.

Big Brother Spoilers (Update #4)

So Natalie and Matt decided not to use the veto, so Ryan/Allison and Jen/Parker remain on the block. Everyone is trying to count votes, and some of them are playing each other, so there really is no telling who is going home. Seems that it is about 70/30 in favor of Ryan and Allison staying.

Last night, Amanda got called out for all the lies she has been telling. She’s been twisting everyone elses words around and walking around in her booty shorts and Chelsia and Joshuah made notice of it and were sure to finally say something. Alex is on the side of everyone else but he can’t verbalize it because she’s his partner. She ends up blowing a bigger gasket when Chelsia mentions something about a noose but it was just in terms of a common phrase. Joshuah expands on it in the heat of the moment and said something to the effect “like her dad.” Amanda had accused Alex to everyone else in the house of touching her down there one night when he thought she was asleep. Alex now gets upset and nervous that she’s going to call him out on something bigger that he hasn’t done and gets permission from BB to sleep downstairs on the floor. (There are videos on YouTube of the entire fight.) Amanda spent more than an hour and a half in the diary room and came out with a picture of her dad. Jen and Sharon ran to console her in the HOH room. Everyone seems to settle down for the night.

I’m away in Connecticut this weekend visiting my sister and her family.  With a 5 year old and 3 year old running around I was in bed and asleep by 9:30pm last night.  I’m not going to be able to play TV catch up until later tonight, so I thought I would turn GMMR over to you guys today.

Feel free to share your thoughts, write a review, tell us what you want about the television you watched this weekend.

Did you catch Brothers & Sisters?  What about the Knight Rider backdoor pilot?  Did you watch something else that you want to tell us about?

The comments are yours…put them to good use.

I’m watching SURVIVOR for the first time since it’s first season and I’m kind of digging it.  I’ve never really talked about the show much in the past so I don’t even know if any GMMR readers are also watching and want to chat about it.

If you are a SURVIVOR fan, leave a comment and let me know.  If we have a crew we might as well be talking about it the day after, right?

Big Brother Spoilers (Update #3)

February 15, 2008 by

Veto was played today. Amanda/Alex, Parker/Jen, Ryan/Allison and Matt/Natalie played. It seemed to be a game of endurance/balance. Ryan and Allison did very poorly and Matt and Natalie won. They have told people that they plan to not use the veto because they think that Jen and Parker have the votes to stay (Joshuah and Sharon are playing them) which would make the vote 2 couples for and 2 couples against and Amanda and Alex would choose to keep Jen and Parker. Since Joshuah and Sharon are playing them, it’ll actually be 3-1 at this point with Jen and Parker gone.

Alex and Amanda had a LONG discussion last night because she doesn’t feel that he appreciates the things she does for him and that he calls her names. He apologized and said that’s just the way he is. They ended up having a Valentines day snugglefest that night. Matt and Natalie, despite telling each other not to fall for the other, have gotten quite close in the sack with Natalie giving Matt a V-Day BJ.

There is other drama with Adam calling out Parker for possibly knowing Amanda before the show- since James put a bug in everyones ear that he thinks 4 more people know each other, based upon one of the quote boards and since Amanda and Parker are pretty tight. All of that drama simmered down after apologies were shared and the long discussion between Alex and Amanda.

Cast of GREY’S & PRIVATE PRACTICE Together in Song

The strike might be over but the cast of GREY’S ANATOMY and PRIVATE PRACTICE aren’t forgetting about their our of work crew. The casts of both shows are coming together for a live performance in “an unforgettable evening of laughter and song to benefit crew members who were affected by the strike.”

The creator of both shows, Shonda Rhimes, just made the announcement on GreysWriters.com (which is finally back up and running.

Because while the strike is over, it will be months before many crew members are back to work. Millions of dollars in income were lost. Many crew members are suffering. And we want to do anything we can to help out.

So:

FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY, February 29, 2008 at UCLA’s Royce Hall in Los Angeles, CA we are presenting GOOD MEDICINE. A little singing, a little funny, a lot of raising money.

Come on out and join the casts of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. See TR KNIGHT SING! Hear Tony Winners Audra MacDonald and Sara Ramirez! See Katie and Kate! See Ellen and Sandra! SEE THEM ALL! CAUSE THEY WANNA SEE YOU! And help raise some money to help others!

Tickets are $85. You can buy them on Ticketmaster.com or call the UCLA Central Ticket Office at 310-825-2101. Tickets are going to go fast and you don’t want to miss this one time event.

What I would give to be there that night.  I mean to see Sara and Audra alone.  Oh and don’t forget about Taye Diggs, whom you may recall originated the role of Benny in the original Broadway production of RENT.  These casts have some talent.  And the rest of them…well, it will be pretty funny to see what they can pull off.

If you’re in the LA area and are planning on going, why don’t you cover the event for GMMR?  If you’re interested, let me know.

LOST: “The Economist”

Lost, The Economist

I’m so loving LOST this season that at the end of almost every episode I want to stand up give everyone involved a nice round of applause. The energy and momentum of this show from the opening minutes until their jaw dropping endings (which usually involve Ben for some reason) just make me happy to be as invested in TV as I am. This is good stuff people.

There was just so much that happened last night, and although my little notepad is filled with questions (and a few OMGs), I still don’t think I caught it all. But let’s dive in all the same.

“I am one of the Oceanic 6” (yes, the t-shirts are coming soon)
We now know that Sayid is on of the Oceanic 6. He joined Jack, Kate and Hurley in the escape off the island. We also learned that Sayid!815 (his new post rescue name) hasn’t really been a productive member of society since his return. Unless of course you call being a hitman being productive.

Ben and Sayid, The EconomistAnd to make things even more frakking confusing, we’ve learned that Sayid is killing off people on some kind of list…a list put together by none other than Benjamin Linus (if that’s really his name). It seems that good old Benny has got some dirt on Sayid and he’s using that info to turn him into a killing machine.

Why Sayid, why? What did you do? Does this have to do with the big Oceanic 6 secret? You know, the one that Hugo!815 and Jack!815 were talking about? I want answers, and I want them now!!

More names…will it ever end?
LOST, Naomi’s braceletMiles is on the island to find Ben, but it doesn’t seem to be a personal mission. He mentions to Jack that someone hired him to find Ben. Who? The Mankowski guy? And dead Naomi is sporting a bracelet engraved with a message to her from someone with the initials R.G. Any theories on who this mysterious R.G. is? And is the same bracelet that Sayid!815 found on Elsa after he killed her?

31 minutes…d’oh
Dan Faraday is playing around with some gadget which ends in a mini rocket being launched supposedly from the boat to the island. Inside the rocket was a stop watch. Much to Daniel’s dismay, it seemed to reveal that time on the island runs 31 minutes behind than the rest of the world. This is HUGE!! Why? Got me, but I know it’s HUGE!!

Lost, clocks

Quarterlife, NBC

By SB (GMMR Contributor)

Oh, where to begin with this one? I’m sure that you guys have heard the rumors that CHUCK won’t be back until the fall, and this probably makes you very sad because you will miss either a.) the chance that you might see that sex bomb Adam Baldwin (bet you didn’t know that was his full name, did you?) OR b.) the guaranteed weekly chick fight between Sarah and another spy with an impossibly hot ass, AND c.) you will miss my recaps. Shut up! You will TOTALLY miss them!

Except now, if you are willing to get on board with a new show with me, you will not have to. I am going to take on recapping QUARTERLIFE, which will air on NBC on the night of February 26, which is a Tuesday. It’ll move to its regular Sunday night timeslot on March 2. I’m not sure of the times, but I’m sure Kath will “What to Watch” it when we get close, so KEEP YOUR PANTS ON! (Which, by the way, is actually good advice in most all situations.)

As some of you who have been with me from the beginning know, I like to know as little as possible going in to shows that I hope to fall madly in love with, partially to avoid prejudice but also because I enjoy the anticipation. I do, however, know a few things, and those few things are enough to make me excited, and I will now share them with you.

Big Brother Spoilers (Update #2)

February 14, 2008 by

This house is ALL drama, ALL the time… Here’s the latest news.Nominations happened yesterday- Parker and Jen are on the block against Ryan and Allison.

Each group thinks that they have the votes to stay, but votes seem to be pointing toward getting rid of Jen and Parker- with Sheila and Adam, Joshuah and Neil, and James and Chelsia voting for them to go. Three couples can’t vote which means only 4 can. But first, a little wrench was thrown into the game because something has happened to Neil (or his family) and he has left. Joshuah gets to choose one person to come in to take his place (another gay male, Jacob, or Sharon). He chooses Sharon who is super tight with Amanda. Amanda and Matt (HOH’s) want Jen and Parker to stay because of their original alliance. Therefore, the new pairing of Joshuah and Sharon are split. If they are split when the eviction comes, they automatically get a penalty nomination the following week. Sharon starts spreading it around that Ryan is the one that called Parker a snake in order to help clear her name with Parker and put the bullseye on Ryan. Joshuah is upset and crying over Neil leaving all night, especially since they shared their first kiss earlier in the day. He is upset that Amanda and Natalie took Sharon right away to fill her in with all the details and he thinks that she needs to stay true to what he wants to do (evict Jen and Parker). He’s planning on telling Sharon that he’ll evict Ryan and Allison, and then switch at the last minute so she can’t change it.

Other goings-on:

Jen and Ryan (the couple) had sex in the bathroom last night.

James and Sheila made a valentines breakfast in bed for Chelsia and Adam (respectively). They had a nice morning chat while everyone else was sleeping and Sheila said she was wrong for judging Adam right off the bat. She thinks he’s a really sweet guy now.
