League of Extraordinary Dancers (LXD) & SYTYCD at Academy Awards

March 9, 2010 by
Filed under LXD, So You Think You Can Dance, SYTYCD

Since I’m not much of a TV gal, you can guess what my favorite part of the entire Academy Awards telecast was…the dancing.  Choreographer Adam Shankman put together a phenomenal piece showcasing the music honored for Best Score. Take a closer look and you might recognize more than a few of our favorites from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.

In addition to favorites from the original League of Extraordinary Dancers (LXD) which includes GLEE star Harry Shum Jr., Lil C and Legacy; the following SYTYCD alums also performed: Nick Lazzarini, Travis Wall, Jaimie Goodwin, Katee Shean, Janette Manrara, Kupono Aweau, Tony Bellissimo, Caitlin Kinney, Kayla Radomski, Noelle Marsh, Channing Cooke, Jakob Karr, Ellenore Scott, Legacy Perez, Russell Ferguson, and Kathryn McCormick. (Although sadly I only saw a few of those familiar faces during the performance.)

In case you missed the dance number, or wanted to watch it again, here you go.

Thanks to SYTYCDism for the video and for being such a great SYTYCD resource.

24 – Day 8: 2:00am – 3:00am

This week kept the pretty brisk pacing and hightened suspense going while still being as believable and tense as “24” gets. We also had one of the top five Jack Bauer moments of all time, in my opinion. Let’s get started!

Debrief

  • Dana and Cole returned to CTU after getting rid of Kevin and the other guy. They’re on thin ice and Dana is now reporting to Chloe. Kevin’s probation officer is on his way to CTU to talk to Dana about her relationship to Kevin.
  • The terrorists sent Marco the directions to manually arming the bomb. He began the process while CTU looked into his background and found his mother. As she was getting ready to leave NYC, Cole found her and brought her to the hospital.
  • Tarin and Kyla plan to get immunity from the State Department. Kyla’s mom has returned to try to get ahold of her, but Tarin forbids her from talking.
  • Marco’s mom shows up and tries to get him to surrender. She fails, but Jack succeeds after promising to kill her if Marco detonates the bomb. Seeing that Marco has surrendered, the terrorists remotely set off the bomb, not giving Jack enough time to disarm it. Before he died, Marcos said that Tarin was part of the nuclear attack planning.
  • Tarin wants to leave for the embassy to apply for immunity. After hearing form her mother that Tarin is involved with the terrorists, she is attempting to buy CTU some time.

Agent Philboy’s Assessment

This week makes about three episodes in a row of consistent great episodes. I’m definitely back on the “24” train after a slower start to the season. This week had me playing a game of “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad.”

How Did You Do on Monday Night?

March 9, 2010 by
Filed under GMMR News, TV News

I’ve decided it’s impossible. There’s just no way to watch all the great shows that are on Monday nights and still manage to sleep.  I failed miserably last night (no thanks in part to the puppy who required my full attention.) I still have so many shows to watch, and tonight I have IDOL, LOST and PARENTHOOD.  All that and Dan is coming over to record the next TV Talk Podcast. Yikes.

Last night I managed to check out CHUCK (my thoughts coming later this morning), HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (eh, didn’t need Jennifer Lopez), THE BIG BANG THEORY (Sheldon as Gollum was pure perfection).  And that’s it.

Sadly I had to drop LIFE UNEXPECTED all together from my DVR….but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to watch the show, it just means I won’t watch it on Mondays.  I’ll try to catch it online around lunch time today.

Erik is covering HOUSE for us, so that’s a show that I’m almost ok with not watching until later on this week.

I’ll make it a priority to watch GREEK when I get home tonight, but who knows when I’m going to get to DAMAGES (last night’s episode and the two before that).

And just this morning I realized that I completely forgot about GOSSIP GIRL.  Thankfully my DVR is all kinds of kickass so it recorded it for me.  Oh for the love of Chuck and Blair, there’s just too much TV on.

Am I the only one completely overwhelmed by Monday night TV?  How did you guys make out?  Which shows did you watch and which ones will have to sit on your DVR until you’re good and ready?  Favorite shows of the night?

CHUCK vs. the Beard

Far be it from me to hold you back on sharing the CHUCK love. Now that you’ve seen tonight’s episode, please tell me I’m not the only one who absolutely loved it?

Check back later for my take on tonight’s episode, but (spoiler alert) I thought it was one of the best episodes of the series to date. It had everything that makes CHUCK so special – humor, intrigue, jealousy, shirtless Captain Awesome and Jeffster. Oh and then of course there was that MAJOR plot twist.

Happy Monday!!

I hope you all rested up this weekend because you’re going to get quite the TV workout tonight. Not quite sure how I’m going to be able to watch my show, blog and take care of a puppy that needs my 24/7 attention. Hmmm.

My new pup Digby arrived last Thursday and I’m madly in love with her. She’s just the most adorable little thing. Emphasis here on little. At 10 weeks old she’s only 1.5 lbs. But don’t let her size fool you, that pup can knows how to get what she wants.

I’m going to try to do the best I can keeping up with the blog, but as those of you who have had puppies in the past know, my time isn’t really my own until she is housebroken. Please be patient with me…and her.

Speaking of adorable, how about a little Chuck Bartowski, Barney Stinson and Chuck Bass tonight?  All of these hot men and more on your TV tonight!

For those of you watching The CW tonight, don’t forget about the line-up change.  LIFE UNEXPECTED is moving to its new time at 8pm and GOSSIP GIRL returns with new eps tonight at 9pm. Am I the only one really excited for the return of GG?!
How I Met Your Mother | 8pm on CBS

When Robin confesses she is still angry with Barney, she enlists the help of a self-help author (Jennifer Lopez) who plans to beat Barney at his own game. Chuck | 8pm on NBC

[GMMR: I don’t want to set false expectations, but I will tell you that this is one of my favorite episodes of all time! So much good stuff. I’ve been told that NBC released a bunch of promos that spoils some of the BIG stuff that happens. BOOO to them for sucking. Please don’t post any promo spoilers in case others reading haven’t seen them.]

Zachary Levi in CHUCK’s Director’s Chair

Next Monday’s episode of CHUCK is one of the best of the season, if not the whole series. Maybe that little bit of extra specialness had something to do with the director, series star Zachary Levi.

Go behind-the-scenes of “Chuck vs. the Beard” and find out what Zac’s co-stars thought of working with their friend-turned-boss.

Baby Halpert – The First Pics & How She Got Her Name

March 5, 2010 by

Welcome to the world little Cecilia Marie Halpert!Check out the first pics of the newest Dunder Mifflinite with her Mommy & Daddy. How adorable!

But just how did the name Cecilia Marie come to be?  Seems Jenna Fischer made the call on that one. Check out what she told People.com.

“The same week that we were shooting the episode where Pam’s baby is born, I was becoming the aunt for the very first time,” says Fischer, who spoke with PEOPLE about Thursday’s hour-long episode of The Office, in which her character Pam gave birth to a girl, named Cecelia Marie Halpert.

“Literally the day we shot Pam’s going to the hospital, my sister was going to the hospital, and the same day we shot me coming home from the hospital, my sister came home from the hospital. It was crazy! And so my dad [Jim] had one daughter going through it for real and another faking it.”

And thanks to Fischer, both babies have the same name.

“I got to name my baby!” says Fischer, who successfully lobbied The Office writers to use the name Cecelia. “I said I would really love to name the baby after my niece, so I did.”

Adam Scott Joining PARKS & REC

March 5, 2010 by
Filed under Parks & Recreation, Party Down

The population of Pawnee is suddenly booming.  A few days after word came down that Rob Lowe would be joining the cast in a recurring role, it was just announced that Adam Scott is also going to be hanging out with the Parks Department.  Scott will first appear at the end of this season but will return to PARKS & RECREATION next season as a series regular. According to TV Guide, Adam will be a love interested for Amy Poehler’s, Leslie Knope.

“Adam is one of the funniest and most versatile performers around,” said executive producer Michael Schur. “When we designed the character he is going to play, we used him as the dream scenario of who we could get.”

Excited to see what Adam can bring to this already talented cast.  He and Poehler are going to be fantastic counterparts. But if Leslie is getting a new love interest, I guess that means Justin (played by Justin Theroux) won’t be coming back anytime soon.  Was I the only one that liked him?

As a long time fan of Adam I’m excited about this news. But what does this mean for his other series, the hilarious PARTY DOWN on Starz? It’s not good news.  If the series is picked up for next season, Adam would only be able to return to his role as Henry Pollard for three episodes.  A tough break for PARTY DOWN who this season lost Jane Lynch to GLEE. They lost a Lynch but gained a Mullally, as in Megan Mullally. PARTY DOWN returns on April 23rd.

I’m really excited about this casting.  Anyone else?

Are You Ready for Baby Halpert? Probably More Ready than Jim!

UPDATE: Jim & Pam’s baby wasn’t the only arrival yesterday. My new puppy arrived.  Please feel free to share you favorite moments from “The Delivery” in this post as I’m going to be offline for a few days while I get my new baby settled.

With only hours to go until the birth of Baby Halpert, you’re probably starting to have a few contractions.  Remember to breathe.  It will all be over soon and when all is said and done it will be well worth everything you’re going through.

Tonight my favorite TV couple will welcome a new little one into their lives. Jim and Pam become parents in a hilarious and quite emotional one hour episode of THE OFFICE.  If you’ve enjoyed the emotional journey of the receptionist and the salesman then tonight’s story will satisfy on many levels.

As is the case with most of the one-hour OFFICE episodes, one half hour is stronger than the other. However, unlike other hour-long eps, I didn’t feel as if the writers were working over time to make sure the episodes could stand alone. In fact, having watched the screener, I really couldn’t tell you exactly where one ep ended and the other began.  Where Pam is in the course of her labor will ultimately define the episodes in syndication, but the one hour episode feels like a cohesive story with a beginning, middle and ending…which of course is just the beginning.
