[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the CHICAGO FIRE season 9 finale.]

After a few seasons of back-and-forth, CHICAGO FIRE’s Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Brett (Kara Killmer) finally moved forward in their relationship.

“We belong together,” she acknowledged.

“We do,” he replied

“We’re right for each other,” she said.

“We are,” he answered.

“When you know, you know,” she admitted. And she also echoed his sentiment from the previous episode: “I’m in love with you, too.” The duo kissed, and then went home to consummate their relationship.

But, naturally, it couldn’t be all happiness in the CHICAGO FIRE finale: Severide (Taylor Kinney), Cruz (Joe Minoso), and Capp (Randy Flagler) attempted a dive rescue—only to find their way out was blocked.

Unfortunately, they had limited air supply…and were already 22 minutes into their rescue attempt.

And—like executive producer Derek Haas teased—it ended with a cliffhanger: them going underwater, seemingly out of time.

Who do you think will survive the cliffhanger?
