STARS ON MARS, CLAIM TO FAME, and CRIME SCENE KITCHEN

CLAIM TO FAME – “Megastars and Meltdowns” – Hosts Kevin and Franklin Jonas introduce the 12 celebrity relatives living under one roof and concealing their lineage for the $100,000 prize. This week’s challenge is a talent show, determining who will face elimination in the Guess Off. MONDAY, JUNE 26 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC. (ABC/John Fleenor)
CARLY, GABRIEL, COLE, KARSYN, CHRIS, OLIVIA, TRAVIS

Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

STARS ON MARS: Four new contestants?! We just lost two, and were down to seven, and now we’re back up to 11? How is this going to work? (Also very intrigued to see how the new kids on the block gel with the OGs.)

With another self-elimination this week, I’m curious if this is the last we’ve seen of it or if there will be more coming. They’re clearly able to communicate with the outside world, but it’s very different than being able to see your family and loved ones whenever you want.

CLAIM TO FAME: Okay, before we get to that absolutely insane exit, I do want to say I appreciate the tweaks to the first episode of the season. Last year, there were a couple of contestants who were pretty instantly recognizable and some of the contestants made it clear their celeb tie. So far, this season, it’s been a lot more murky and they’ve kept the reveals to themselves. (Now, did they maybe show a correct guess or two? I would bet yes. But it’s still speculation and I’m trying VERY HARD to not go down a Google rabbit hole and risk spoiling myself.)

Also: That talent show

But, uh, that Carly exit was bonkers. Honestly, I thought the Tom Hanks focus was a red herring, because, yes, there was a bench, but it could have been any number of things that had nothing to do with films or entertainment. (Like, it could have been an NBA player who was known for being a sixth man/bench player.) And whoever paired her talking about how her uncle was everything everyone said he was—kind, generous—etc. with her absolute meltdown and temper tantrum? Chef’s kiss, A+, no notes. Absolutely bonkers reality TV moment. (Who literally says THEY DESERVED MORE CAMERA TIME? Oh my God.)

So…yeah, probably best she didn’t stick around that long.

CRIME SCENE KITCHEN: Well, this was an interesting round with the classically trained bakers. An undercooked pancake tart?! (Okay, I know it was a mess, but I also kind of want to try that? Help.)

I think in some ways I appreciate how things went in the second bake-off, with everyone getting the general dessert correct versus it being a hodgepodge of guesses. A bummer Bob and Vicky got the glaze wrong, but it made it obvious they would go home.
