FBI season 5 Scola spoilers

“Prodigal Son” – As the team investigates a deadly robbery that garnered a cache of automatic weapons for the killers, they discover one of the culprits is a classmate of Jubal’s son, who is reluctant to cooperate with the case, on the CBS Original series FBI, Tuesday, Oct. 4 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. On the Tuesday, October 4 episode of FBI, “Prodigal Son,” the team has to contend with a possible school shooting. (The hour, initially intended to air as the season 4 finale in May, was pushed after the real-life Uvalde school shooting.)

“There’s the threat of a possible school shooting, with a couple of young suspects that [Jubal’s] son knows,” FBI star Jeremy Sisto previewed at the time. “Rick [Eid], our showrunner, wrote such a nuanced and just interesting, great script full of subtleties and subtext…it’s tragic, obviously. What’s going on with my son and the multitude of feelings and complicated emotions that go into parenthood and guilt and doubt and just love and complicated stuff with the ex-wife was fun to do. It was challenging. It was really exciting, because they really spend some time with these characters, and I’m very excited for people to see it.”

As Jubal is struggling with the case hitting close to home, his team is doing their best to support him. “Scola is just being a good soldier in that one,” John Boyd tells Give Me My Remote. “That one’s just about doing everything we can, at every second, to support Jubal. There’s like an arsenal of weapons found, and it’s goes back to like a kid that’s in Jubal son’s class. And it’s really heart-wrenching—just every parent’s absolute nightmare, you know? But Scola is just in a supportive role in that one, doing whatever we got to do.”

Scola will also be a support to his partner, Tiff (Katherine Renee Turner), in an upcoming hour.

“There’s a flopped cop episode where we’re trying to take down a drug lord,” Boyd previews. “Tiffany goes to an old contact of hers from the NYPD. And it’s a really complicated relationship, and there’s some loss involved there. It’s a really cool moment for the partnership, for us. That’s sort of the first time, in a way, that we really see Scola open up to her, in support of her, which it’s a beautiful moment.”

It’s a great, great episode and the guest cast was amazing,” he continues. “There was some really good acting in that one, too. There’s some good, Tiff-Scola—Tiff needing Scola, which is something I’m happy about.”

FBI, Tuesdays, 8/7c, CBS
