LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME Adds Dean Norris as Stabler’s Brother

The Stabler family is officially expanding when LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME returns for season 4.

Dean Norris has been cast as Randall Stabler, Elliot’s older brother, sources have confirmed to Give Me My Remote. The character is expected to be in a multi-episode arc, kicking off post-season premiere.

Though the Stabler family has played a sizable role in ORGANIZED CRIME so far, Elliot’s (Christopher Meloni) siblings have remained a real question mark.

Originally, during his SVU tenure, Elliot mentioned he had three brothers and two sisters, but very little information was said about them. (Allegedly, one sister went with him to a school dance.) Elliot’s abusive father, Joe, died prior to the start of LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIM UNIT’s run, and Elliot’s mother, Bernie (Ellen Burstyn), was introduced in the SVU episode “Swing” and Burstyn has recurred in season 2 and 3 of ORGANIZED CRIME.

This serves as a reunion for Norris with new ORGANIZED CRIME showrunner John Shiban, who worked on a number of projects together including BREAKING BAD. Norris also co-starred with Meloni in the film SMALL TIME.

Norris is also known for roles on CLAWS, THE BIG BANG THEORY, and UNDER THE DOME.

Update, January 8: NBC has officially teased Norris’ first episode, “Deliver Us From Evil,” which will air Thursday, January 25: “After a deadly bombing claims the life of a spiritual leader, Stabler meets with an officer who’s convinced the crime is part of a larger conspiracy. Tensions rise within the task force as Jet struggles to get her team on board with Vargas’ program. Stabler welcomes his older brother to town.”
