Brett (Kara Killmer) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) officially got hitched on the Wednesday, February 28 episode of CHICAGO FIRE.

After being a bit distraught they were tying the knot in a fish store—“This will be the best fish store wedding in history,” Violet (Hanako Greensmith) promises—Brett reunites with her fiance and breaks the news of their nuptials being in a less-than-ordeal setting.

“I don’t care where we get married..as long as it’s you and me there, we’re all good,” Casey reassures her.

Though Brett’s final call has a too-close encounter (no bride should be held hostage before her wedding), she does manage to make it to her wedding.

Boden (Eamonn Walker), who is performing the ceremony, has a little bit of fun ribbing Brett and Casey, noting, “You two should have gotten married before you did.”

But, he says on a serious note, “You will always be a part of the DNA of Firehouse 51. No matter where you go, 51 will always be your home.”

Then, it was time for the vows.

“Sylvie Brett,” Casey starts. “Getting here to this place was the toughest battle of my life. It was worth every moment because we’re here now. You are my port in the storm. The most generous caring person I’ve ever known. And sometimes the most stubborn.”

“So not true,” she interrupts.

Casey notes they were “apart too long,” but “this, the two of us together, is a fire that will never go out. I had to get a fire metaphor in there somewhere.”

After his bride-to-be laughs at his joke, it’s her turn to say her vows. She recalls the time they took Amelia to see the fishes. “That is when I realized you are the only man for me,” Brett says. “The way you were with her, I knew you were born to be a father.”

And when he left to take care of the Darden kids, “it only made me love you more, even though I was trying so hard to let you go,” she continues. “I couldn’t. Like you said, we were meant to be. And we were meant to be a family.”

“We were,” he says.

“All I wanted was for this wedding to be simple and intimate and perfect,” she notes. And, ultimately, it was. Brett thanks Tony for what he made happen.

“I told you this place was magical,” he says.

Then, Boden says the magic words: “I pronounce you husband and wife and a family.”

Brett and Casey celebrate their wedding at Molly’s, before saying their farewell to their friends…and heading out for their happily ever after.

“I think this is really the natural conclusion for Sylvie’s story arc,” Killmer told Give Me My Remote before the episode aired. “I’m kind of selfishly delighted over the fact that her Chicago journey started as a jilted bride—she was left at the altar by her high school sweetheart from Fowlerton, Indiana—and I love that she ends up across the aisle from the love of her life, who also happens to be the most eligible bachelor in all of Chicago and Portland. And so it’s just such a natural conclusion for the character.”

Spencer, for his part, posted a tribute to his on-screen partner…
