On the LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME season finale, Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt) and Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) case against Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott) may come down to an unlikely ally: Richard’s ex-wife, Angela (Tamara Taylor)…who was also responsible for the death of Stabler’s wife, Kathy (Isabel Gillies).

As if that wasn’t enough trouble, there’s an additional wild card in the mix that could cause the tenuous peace between the officers and Angela to collapse—Angela’s son, Richie (Nick Creegan), killed Bell’s undercover agent, Gina (Charlotte Sullivan).

“Angela’s smart, because she’s put the focus on Richard and taking him down, and, hopefully, blaming him for everything, including how he influenced Richie,” Truitt says in the video below. “As she said in the scene that we had together, ‘Do you have children, do you have a son?’…I think that did resonate with Bell, to a certain extent. And then both of us being Black women and being Black mothers, that’s a whole other subject that takes it even deeper.”

“The thing I love about Bell is she is very focused on her goal, but she also has the ability to see things in her peripheral,” she continues. “So I don’t think the issue with Richie is beyond her…I think there’ll be compassion now, but at the end of the day, Angela needs to pull through with what she said she’s going to do.”

For her part, Taylor says Angela is set on taking her ex down.

“He killed her son…that’s pretty deep,” she points out. “And he’s sort of taking her other two children down with him. She’s, I think, legitimately landing on the right side of things with Stabler and Bell, because Richard’s a bad guy. So that is quite, quite clear and I think she’s known that for a long time.”

“But I think what I found most interesting about this season overall, and certainly the finale as it ramps up, is that you start to see these unlikely connections,” she continues. “Life is messy, emotions are messy, humans are messy. The fact that Bell and Angela…can have a connection, just a human connection, woman-to-woman, mother-to-soon-to-be-mother. Unlikely, but there. Stabler’s connection to Angela is unlikely, but there. I think it makes people uncomfortable when emotions exist, and can’t necessarily be quantified or explained.”
