BIG BROTHER Spoilers…The Final Two

April 24, 2008 by
Filed under Big Brother, Big Brother Recap

Sunday is the season finale of BIG BROTHER and tonight we learned that the big winner will either be Ryan or Adam. It’s been an eventful few days with Ryan winning part one of the three part HOH competition. Adam took part two. And in the end it was my boy Ryan who won the final and most important HOH of the whole series.

Given the choice to bring Sheila or Adam into the final two, Ryan chose to stick to his word and bring Adam to the finals and therefore give his bud at least $50k if not the whole $500k. But it’s up to the people in the jury house and you just never know how that will go.

BIG BROTHER finale - Ryan and Adam

My gut is telling me that it’s going to be Adam walking away with the big prize at the end of the day, but really either guy has a good shot. Both played a good game. It’s BIG BROTHER so of course there was a level of shadiness with boys of these boys, but all and all they both played a clean game.

We all know Ryan would get my vote, but sadly I’m not in the jury house. Here’s how I think the house might vote:

ADAM – James, Chelsia, Josh, Sheila
RYAN – Matty, Natalie, Sharon

Sharon might choose to vote with her former alliance after seeing the shared glance between Adam and Ryan after her recent eviction, but you just never know.

What are your thoughts on the BIG BROTHER final two?

What to Watch…Wednesday, April 23, 2008

The more I think about it, the more I really like Wednesday night TV. There’s actually not much going on tonight, and I’m fine with that. Wednesday night is a carefree night of TV and it mentally prepares me for the overwhelming night of television on Thursday.

Tonight it’s just the reality shows for me. Let’s hope that my DVR actually records BIG BROTHER tonight. It didn’t last night, and it’s not like it was a major episode or anything. Oh wait, yes it was!!! It’s too nice outside to watch it online this morning so I had to do a quick read through. But come on…we are right at the finale, so NOT the time to stop recording. DCR is so on the naughty mat today.

American Idol | 9pm on Fox
American Idol Another dream is shattered tonight when the American public sends another AMERICAN IDOL contestant home. Who will be making the talk show circuit this week? In my mind it’s easily Brooke White going home. I’m thinking Brooke, Syesha and Jason in the bottom three. It’s getting down to the wire.

Big Brother 9 | 9pm on CBS
Big Brother 9 We are down to the final three in the BIG BROTHER house. It’s either going to be Ryan, Sheila or Adam taking home the big prize on Sunday night. Tonight we find out who will be in the final two. As you all know I’ve been pulling for Ryan since the very first episode, and no matter what happens I’m glad my boy made it this far. I think either of the guys can take Sheila in the end because she’s done nothing but run her mouth since day one. I truly believe that Ryan deserves to win over Adam, but Adam has got James running the Jury House and if it comes down to the two boys I think Baller’s going to win it all.

Law & Order | 10pm on NBC
Law & Order, NBC“Burn Card”
Det. Green becomes the subject of an internal investigation, led by Det. Kevin Bernard (new series regular Anthony Anderson), after he is implicated in the shooting of a well-known hustler.

Also playing…

  • America’s Next Top Model | 8pm on The CW: The models travel to Rome and film a commercial in Italian.
  • Til Death | 8pm on Fox: After a pregnancy scare, Joy decides that Eddie should have a vasectomy. Meanwhile, Jeff catches a ball at a ball game and Eddie demands that he give it to the “disadvantaged” Kenny (J.B. Smoove). Dr. Park: Ken Jeong.
  • Wife Swap | 8pm on ABC: A farm wife who homeschools her sons and isolates them from society swaps with a woman who lets her kids do whatever they want, including throwing parties for over 100 people.
  • Deal or No Deal | 8pm on NBC: Players from New York and Minnesota gamble with their winnings by spinning the Deal Wheel, which can double or triple their cash—or cut it in half.
  • Back to You | 8:30pm on Fox: Kelly and Chuck’s decision to tell Gracie the identity of her father is detoured by Kelly’s apprehension, which sends them to a therapist to sort out their issues with one another.
  • Supernanny | 9pm on ABC: Jo helps a couple with three little girls (ages 4, 6 and 10) whose household order is undermined by the fact that the parents rarely spend the night in the same place, because they’re always playing “musical beds” with their children.
  • Men in Trees | 10pm on ABC: Cash moves in with Marin and Jack while he recovers from his kidney transplant, and Mai moves in with Celia after leaving Buzz. Meanwhile, Buzz wants to win Mai back by paying her back, so he takes Patrick’s old job at the Elmo Inn.

That’s a lot of TV to choose from tonight.  What will YOU be watching?

I’m not a reality TV snob at all, but sometimes the amount of reality TV depresses me.  I don’t want to be depressed so I’m heading to the beach.  An 80 degree day in April?  In Boston?  Yup my book and I are heading to the ocean.  Enjoy your day.

David Cook Singing “The Music of the Night” (Watch)

David Cook – you own me. As I just Twittered, I think David Cook might be my favorite AMERICAN IDOL contestant of all time. That’s saying a lot because I think you all know my love for Kelly Clarkson and a boy named Daughtry. But David Cook is something special and I truly look forward to his performance every week.

Tonight he took on the powerhouse that is “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera. I had absolutely no clue what Mr. Cook was going to do to make this ballad his own. But what he did with it floored me. I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but Paula made a great point tonight (yup that was indeed painful to type) when she said that his song choice really showed his range. I mean, when he hit the “be” in “where you long to be….” I just about fainted. People that is NOT easy, and even tougher when you consider that David didn’t use a true falsetto to get there. I mean come on already, this guy is incredible! And did anyone else love that David “cooked” the last two notes and put his little touch of rocker stud on there? Yeah, you could say that I liked it.

The judges did too. Especially Paula and Randy. Simon gave encouraging comments but you could tell it wasn’t his favorite performance. It was a little different for David, but I think on rewatch Simon will realize just how amazing it was.

David Archuleta Singing “Think of Me” (Video)

Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap

I honestly feel for David Archuleta every time he takes the stage. The boy looks like he’s going to throw up or pass out. I’d think that after all this time he’d be a little more ready for performance night, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. The boy looks like he needs a hug.

Little David Archuleta takes on a might big song with “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera. Not in a million years would I think that David would pick this song. It’s tough. And it’s extremely popular. But David did exactly what Simon hoped the contestants would do – he made it his own and he made it contemporary. I personally was really, really impressed.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with this song, it’s a powerful ballad sung by a soprano. But the melodic arrangement that Team Archuleta put together was bluesy and soulful. I could easily hear this on the radio tomorrow. I thought David’s voice sounded fantastic tonight and much more mature than in past week’s. I was a big fan of this performance and personally thought it was his best since “Imagine”.

Paula and Randy seemed down with it while Simon thought it was “forgettable”. A big old DIS and AGREE to Mr. Cowell tonight.

Great job Little Archie!

Carly Smithson Singing “Jesus Christ Superstar” (Video)

Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap

The Irish lass took on “Jesus Christ Superstar” tonight, and if you were digging it then I’m sure you weren’t alone. But I think Carly is going to struggle when it comes to getting votes because as fantastic as she is, there’s just no connection with the audience. This is coming from someone who really digs her. Sadly, a good vocal alone just isn’t good enough.

That being said, this girl can wail. “Jesus Christ Superstar” was a great choice for her as she could really rock it out and perform the hell out of it…which she did. Vocally and performance wise she was on fire, but again, I wonder if it’s all a little too late.

The judges all really liked it but I don’t think any of them were on the verge of a standing O. But again, I think the judges are feeling the same as the voting audience in as much they are wondering what else Carly can do to set herself apart.

Did Carly do it for you tonight? What did you think of her performance?

Brooke White Singing “You Must Love Me” (Watch)

Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap

I know Brooke White has a lot of fans out there, and up until tonight I was one of them. Now I’ve never been effusive in my love for Brooke, but I always kind of dug what she brought to the stage. Sorry, but all my good thoughts were gone the minute she stopped the song and started over. I’ve been there. I’ve been on stage and forgot lyrics, and let me tell you it’s a sick, sick feeling. But for the second time tonight, I’m agreeing with Paula on this one…you just push through. You are on your way to becoming a professional artist and you are in fact of the biggest stage in the world. I’m sure it’s happened, but I’d be pretty bummed out if I went to go see someone like Mariah or Whitney perform live and they stopped a few seconds into the song and asked for a do over. Come on now. And you know what? I’d probably let this slide if this were Brooke’s first time doing this…but it’s not. Maybe I’m being too harsh, but it was all a bit too amateurish to me.

As for the performance itself – had she not had the false start I think I would have rather enjoyed it. While the vocals weren’t anything spectacular, Brooke pushed her range tonight and did it somewhat well. I agree with Simon when he said that her rocky start affected her whole performance. I was almost waiting for her to forget the lyrics again. I thought she was a bit over dramatic. What Andrew Lloyd Weber was saying about feeling the song was right on, but I thought Brooke was drawing on fake emotion and and vulnerability she had came more from fear than heart.

As I mentioned before, Paula wasn’t too thrilled about Brooke’s lack of professionalism. Simon and Randy let her off the hook too easily. Then again, Simon has an agenda when it comes to Brooke. Can you imagine if Syesha started and stopped a song? Simon would probably physically take her off the stage.

I’m full prepared to get an earful from the Brooke lovers out there. I’m prepared. Bring it.

Jason Castro Singing “Memory” (Watch)

Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap

For those of you who were really digging Jason Castro’s version of the Cats classic, “Memory” here’s the video for you to watch over and over again. Face it…you can’t get enough of the baby blues.

I was a little torn by Jason’s performance tonight. One on hand I thought his rendition of what is perhaps one of the most famous Broadway songs of the past 20 years was daring because it was so different than the original. But on the other hand I almost felt like Jason didn’t really take the time to embrace the essence of the original song and just tried to put his musical spin on the lyrics and melody. While I liked his interpretation of “Memory” I can’t say that I was blown away by it.

No doubt about it – Jason is a talented guy and I think he will really go far after this competition. I know exactly who he is going to be as an artist and I’m glad that he really hasn’t strayed from that. I thought his voice was pretty, sweet and vulnerable tonight, and I definitely didn’t think it was the trainwreck that Randy said it was, but it also wasn’t a stand out performance for me.

I realize I am being 100% contradictory on my review of his performance. Here I am saying that I like that Jason has a consistent sound, yet on the same note I think he’s becoming a bit too predictable. Glad I’m not one of the judges (although I wouldn’t mind their paychecks for a week).

Talk to me about Jason’s performance tonight. Were you digging it? On the fence like me? Or did you flat out hate it?

Syesha Mercado Singing “One Rock And Roll Too Many” (Watch)

Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap

I almost didn’t want to share my thoughts on IDOL this week. After re-reading the hilarious recap that Glenn and Deb wrote last week I felt like a bad knock off in comparison. My own sister even told me that I should give up recapping IDOL in favor of Glenn and Deb. And believe me I would if (a) Deb and Glenn had time to devote to an IDOL recap each week and (b) I didn’t love this damn show so much.

And how could I not recap on a night where the IDOL wannabe’s were singing the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber? I’m kind of a Broadway geek so I was really looking forward to what the contestants were going to do with some of the most popular Broadway songs of all time.

So I apologize for an over analytical (and not very humorous) look at tonight’s performances.

First up is Syesha Mercado with “One Rock and Roll Too Many”. I really don’t know what to say. The girl has great vocals, she’s gorgeous, she oozes personality, yet week after week she’s in the bottom group. At least American has the good sense to keep her around, but I don’t get why she isn’t more loved. It’s almost as if the Simon finds it painful to give her a compliment.

Tonight Mr. Cowell really had no choice in the matter. Syesha was fantastic. The girl owned that stage and strutted around with major confidence. You would never know she wasn’t the front runner in this competition. She held her head high and gave it her all. I love her, what more can I say?

Was this ‘one rock and roll too many’ for you or did you love it?

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Recap: “The Ties That Bind”

It’s killing me not to read Jo’s recap of this week’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA! But I want to see it for myself and will just have to show some restraint and read the recap after I watch the actual episode. But for those of you who want to discuss, check out Jo’s recap of BSG.

Title: “The Ties That Bind”
Original Airdate: 4/18/2008
GMMR Recapper: Jo

You know, some shows have pacing problems. This show has several slow building story lines but they all have my attention in a vice.

39,676. Laura is still sick and Bill is still in love with her. He reads to her during her cancer treatment. The Roslin administration is starting to crack. Well according to former terrorist Tom Zarek and we all know he just likes to cause trouble. He passes some confidential records to newly appointed Caprican representative Lee Adama. He tries to help her out on the Demetrius question during the quorum meeting and she verbally smacks him down like a little boy. So he drops the bomb that she’s trying to form a judicial system all appointed by her. Lee should re-rent season one and remember how Tom Zarek nearly killed him a couple of times on that prisoner ship before he takes sides in this mess.

Robin Sparkles Video – “Sandcastles in the Sand”

Filed under How I Met Your Mother

“Sandcastles in the Sand” by 90’s Canadian pop sensation Robin Sparkles wasn’t a mega hit like her debut single “Let’s Go to the Mall“, but it’s still a thing of beauty (albeit it Canadian beauty which is a little different) and will be watched over and over again.

Last night’s HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER brought back Robin Sparkles and added a little Dawson Leery into the mix just to make me happy. HIMYM is second only to LOST in their brilliant the use of flashbacks. Well then again, if you think about it, the whole show is a giant flashback. But I love some Robin Sparkles. And yes, I was happy to see James van der Beek back on TV, even if was that horrible fake Canadian accent.

The discovery of the music video for Robin’s second single wasn’t the real story last night. Nope it was the big ‘ol makeout between Robin and manwhore Barney Stinson that had my jaw on the ground. I’ve been waiting for these two to smooch since their laser tag flirting a while back. Do you think this is the grand plan? Will Barney be tamed by Scherbatsky? Do we want him to be tamed? What will Ted Schmosby think of his “other” best friend and his former love getting it on?

BONES: The Player Under Pressure

It seems that many of you BONES fans were happy to be able to talk about your show last week.  So once again Seeleybaby has been kind enough to talk about it here on GMMR.  I might have to play a little catch up with this show since so many of you seem to loving it.

So without further ado, I turn it over to Seeleybaby…

Bones fans, Seeley Booth is bringing sexy back. Congratulations to David Boreanaz for being selected #11 on TV Guide Channel’s Sexiest Men of TV Ever. William Shatner was ranked as sexier. Hmmm…here’s a test…anyone who would rather see Captain Kirk over Booth…go ahead and raise your hand. Anyone?…Anyone?…Bueller?…Bueller?

Note: This episode was originally supposed to air on 4/18/07, but because of the tragedy at Virginia Tech, was postponed. Therefore, if any of you are new Bones watchers, and you haven’t rented seasons one and two, first of all, shame on you, and secondly, this episode would have appeared between The Killer in the Concrete and Spaceman in a Crater. That’s why Hodgins looks like he bathed in Rogaine, and why Sweets haters might love this episode.

Let’s get to…

The Case…
I don’t like giving out too much info in this part, in case someone hasn’t seen it yet…but basically, an all-star, potential first rounder basketball star is found dead, crushed by bleachers. This body’s extra nasty. A rat had babies on it…AHHHH!

Yes, I know it’s not Sunday, but I just checked and there doesn’t seem to be anything of interest on tonight.  But tomorrow is a whole other story.  I am SO excited for the return of BROTHERS & SISTERS.  Sadly I have been spoiled like crazy as to what we can expect over the remainder of the season, but it’s all stuff that I’m excited about, and you should too.

Here’s a few shows worth checking out on Sunday.

Desperate Housewives | 9pm on ABC
MeeVee Recommends“In Buddy’s Eyes”
Gaby struggles with the reality of Carlos’ blindness; someone from Lynette’s past shows up at the pizzeria; Bree and Katherine decide to join forces to plan the Founder’s Day Ball.

Brothers & Sister | 10pm on ABC
MeeVee Recommends“Separation Anxiety”
A surprising turn in the presidential campaign prompts a life-changing moment for Kitty and Robert; Nora’s response to Isaac’s proposal shocks her children; Rebecca continues to search for clues about her paternity.

Big Brother 9 | 9pm on CBS
Big Brother 9 It’s the nomination ceremony and I really have no idea what to expect.  I haven’t been watching BIG BROTHER at all while I’m on vacation and have no clue what’s going on inside that crazy house.  As long as Ryan is not on the block it’s fine with me.  He was my pick to win in week one and he’s still my pick today.

There’s a lot more to watch on Sunday, but rather than share it with you I’m going down to the beach.  I’m so mean!
