The FBI franchise—FBI, FBI: MOST WANTED, and FBI: INTERNATIONAL—will stage a three-show crossover on Tuesday, April 4, CBS announced.

For now, the network is keeping details about the event under wraps, but did acknowledge it will be a “high-stakes bicontinental case.” (FBI: INTERNATIONAL films in Europe.) The shows will also air in a different order for the event: FBI: INTERNATIONAL kicking things off at 8/7c, followed by FBI at 9/8c, and ending with FBI: MOST WANTED at 10/9c.

“As the FBIs continue to dominate on Tuesday nights, we are excited to reward our devoted fans with this special three-hour global crossover event that will bring these three heroic – and popular – teams together for a second time,” said Eric Kim, executive vice president of current programs for CBS Entertainment and CBS Studios, in a statement. “Our April 4 crossover event will be a non-stop thrilling experience that will keep viewers engaged in ways that only Dick Wolf’s FBI world can.”

This marks the first crossover for the FBIs this season; the three shows previously crossed over in 2021, as a way to kick off FBI season 4, FBI: MOST WANTED season 3, and the series premiere of FBI: INTERNATIONAL. (The event also served as the exit for MOST WANTED star Kellan Lutz.) This go-round, it’ll mark the first big crossover for FBI: MOST WANTED’s Dylan McDermott and Edwin Hodge, as well as FBI: INTERNATIONAL’s Eva-Jane Willis, who all joined the franchise since the last crossover occurred.

Though the shows don’t overlap constantly—there are occasionally mini-crossovers, like FBI’s Isobel (played by Alana De La Garza) popping up on the spinoffs—the showrunners have remained cognizant of keeping their worlds interconnected.

“There’s so much work to be done on each show that we all kind of mind our own business and do our own thing,” FBI boss Rick Eid shared with Give Me My Remote in 2022. (MOST WANTED is run by David Hudgins and INTERNATIONAL is run by Derek Haas.) “But when there are elements crossing over—or something significant happens, like Jess’ death [on FBI: MOST WANTED]—we talk about how to recognize it or acknowledge it in the show in an organic way so it creates that one universe feeling.”

It’s been a big season for franchise-wide crossovers: CBS recently hosted the first three-way NCIS crossover between NCIS, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, and NCIS: HAWAII; ABC has hosted a couple of crossovers between THE ROOKIE and THE ROOKIE: FEDS; and elsewhere in the Dick Wolf universe, NBC hosted a three-hour LAW & ORDER event, as the mothership, SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, and ORGANIZED CRIME crossed over.
